phones are very affordable nowadays, the last time I checked there was a price cut for the Galaxy s6 /Edge, LG G5 and Xperia z5 compact.

LoL, 160k is not "affordable". Reserve that title for sub-30k phones.

My brother, I use a Passport and Z3. I have been so upset since I heard this earlier this year. I can't throw off d Passport cos of Bbm channels which is integral to me now. So I have to buy an Android phone just to keep whatsapp. I can't even imagine how the app became so important to me overnight. I even conduct business on it. Sigh. Zuckerberg has done me strong thing sad

BBM for Android has BBM channels doesn't it?

WhatsApp support for mobile devices

As announced in our blog, we will soon be ending support for certain devices. At the end of 2016, we will no longer support the following platforms:

BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10
Nokia S40
Nokia Symbian S60
Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
Windows Phone 7.1
iPhone 3GS/iOS 6

These platforms don't offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app's features in the future. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android running OS 2.3+, a Windows Phone 8+, or an iPhone running iOS 7+ before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.
Once you have one of these devices, simply install WhatsApp and verify your phone number on the new device to continue using WhatsApp. Keep in mind that WhatsApp can only be activated with one phone number on one device at a time.

There is currently no option to transfer your chat history between platforms. However, we provide the option to send your chat history attached to an email. Learn how to export your chat history on:

Android | iPhone | Windows Phone | Nokia S40 | BlackBerry | Nokia S60 | BlackBerry 10
Cheers,
WhatsApp Support Team

I dunno why they decided to make this decision at this moment when almost everyone is falling in love with whatsapp...
Baroba:
I still don't understand why WhatsApp wants to end BB10 support,.........This decision will probably kill off BlackBerry completely..
Didn't you read the blog post on why they took such a decision? Besides, BlackBerry may be forced to go Android.

HateU2:
I'm addicted to Bb, in fact I don't like android fones.
An Android-powered BlackBerry might improve your addiction.

But OP won't blackerry with an android OS run whatsapp?
It should, and that is what BlackBerry will do next; go Android!

Are you kidding me?

The first BB device with Android OS is the BB Priv, to be followed by BB Neon, BB Argon and BB Mercury in the Q3, Q4 of 2016 and Q1 of 2017 respectively.

BB Z30 runs on BB OS 10.2 upgradeable to 10.3.1

Thank you o! Please tell them. I shocked people don't realize the Priv is out there
