What’s The Most Difficult Thing You Ever Did? by Omoswags(m): 8:02am On Jul 07, 2016
Phew! I wrote an exam a few days ago. Yes! I mean, I had to
practically read (even memorise), then I had to go into the exam
Hall and literally write my fingers off – it gets harder to handle a
pen these days-

It’s a lot easier to type directly on my laptop or phone.
Well, the world is changing. There’s no big deal there. Everyone
writes exams now and then. Right?

Let’s not get too distracted here.

What’s the most difficult thing you ever did?
Think about it carefully. Huh?
What was it? Fighting temptations?
That’s pretty difficult, isn’t it?
Staying true to your commitments?
Getting married and staying faithful?
Writing exams? Jamb? WAEC and NECO?
Getting admitted to the University? Seems there’s a whole lotta
difficult things…

Well, I have just one answer. It may not be the same for you.
But maybe you should not be too quick to make a response.
The most difficult thing I ever did was try to stay human.
Yea! You heard me right.

It’s HARD. Like extremely difficult to stay human.
You know all these things they say about trust, and love, and
friends, and relationships, and even family?
Well, it turns out that many of them were right. Yea. It’s great to
trust, to love, to care, to just live life.
You know? Hoping for the best and expecting the worst? Nah!
Hoping for the best and expecting the best. Yea. That’s more like
it.

So, I’ve found out that in this life, it takes guts and more guts to
stay human. You’ll get hurt, and trust me, you’ll hurt others as
well.
You’ll get disappointed many times, just as much as you’ll
disappoint others.
You’ll get pushed just as much as you’ll push back. No news
there.
Tupac Shakur once said,
“that’s just the way it is, things will
never be the same.”

Akon was perhaps at the crossroads when he
sang, “this street reminds me of quicksand, when you’re on it,
you keep going down, and there’s no one to hold on to, and
there’s no one to pull you up, you keep on falling, and no one can
hear you calling, so you end up self-destructing…” PAUSE!
Yea. Being human is a one way Street. Sometimes we get it right,
sometimes we don’t.
But hey! We have to keep trying, right?
So it’s true that being human is perhaps the most difficult thing
I’ve ever had to do (and still do).
Why? Not all human beings are human beings.
Being human goes beyond breathing, eating, sleeping, talking,
walking, and all the other things Mr Niger D has to do.

Remember Mr Niger D? Come on! Characteristics of a living
thing?

Yea, now you remember. Being human takes guts.
You’ll get pushed and you’ll push back.
You’ll get hurt, and you’ll hurt back.
You’ll get slapped in the face and you’ll slap back. Hmmm.
But unknown to you, each time you push back, fight back, tit for
tart, you lose a little bit of your humanity. And boy, how difficult it
is to regain that lost part.
It’s exactly like what Akon calls it; “self destruction!”
Perhaps I’m making sense, perhaps I’m not. But as the seconds
go by, and the events unfold, I realise that being human isn’t
easy.

Then again, I realise I have no choice but to be. I realise I can’t
get lost.
I can’t lose myself, I can’t push for every push, fight for every
fight, hurt for every hurt, and tear for every tear.
I realise that I have to pick the pieces and get it all together. I
realise that no matter how difficult it is, I have to somehow find a
way to stay human.
I realise I need help from He who first made me human
