Please help me on the cost of fixing my car..... I rammed into a fence after trying to dodge a pedestrian.
The airbags on the driver side and the passenger side activated before i could blink my eyes.

Thank God for I walked out unhurt.
The car had been towed to a panel shop. I need expert advice on what to do....estimated cost of fixing the car to her normal condition.

Please help.....!!!!!!!!

If that car was mine, I would junk it.

The passenger cell and airbags did their jobs, keeping you safe. Don't tempt fate, and expect it to do the same, if the unexpected happens, and the car is involved in another smash.

@Siena....
If I had many cars I wouldn't have come here in search of opinions......I bought that car not quite long with my hard earned money.

Junking it isn't at the bottom of my plans.... I will appreciate better advise on what to do......

Thanks though.

It's worth trying to fix but this car will never be at par with what it used to be
Is the engine still ok ?

My dear, I felt ur plight... You can still get it up to the standard, just make sure that is being handled by experts especially the wiring aspect of the car..since it is Camry , it is not too hard

I had a terrible accident with mine last year, guess what! If u see it now, u won't believe it was damaged so badly.
Yours is not too much.. Just budget around 80k-100k
Hope it didn't touch the engine.. Well Camry engines are usually far from the front radiator .
Yes u cam,, my brother

It can be fixed and brought back to almost the same as it were before the crash. The problem is the cost...is it worth it? How much would it cost to fix vs how much it cost to replace? In fixing...you would run into more than the estimate....faults would keep popping up...gearbox need to be replaced etc. I suggest replace it.... and part out this one....sell it by parts.....you'll make a whole lot more.

@ozzugworgroup..
Thanks alot for atleast raising my hope...
According to preliminary investigations, the radiator wasn't touched and the engine either...cos there was no leakeges observed at the point....but the front rod (don't know what it's called) where the healight is attached to got completely damaged. And some other pipes around it.....
The panel said no great impact on the chasis...
That's there will be need to cut it off and replace it...

Many Thanks....

Spot on, Sly.

It is pretty hard to know how extensive the damage is, just by looking. It's a slippery slope, once you make up your mind to repair such a vehicle, you're out on a limb.

You may start finding more previously overlooked damage. And at this point, you could have reached the point of no return, whereby junking the car is no longer an option. You'll just have to press on. So far, from the pictures posted, this car needs:

Bonnet.
Right hand fender.
Slam panel.
Lower valence.
Right hand chassis rail.
Coolant radiator.
Aircon condenser.
Bumper cover.
Bumper re-bar.
Radiator grille.
Right hand headlamp.
Left hand headlamp.
Right hand indicator lamp.
Left hand indicator lamp.
Right hand upper engine mount / bracket.
6"x15" steel wheel.
195/65x15 tyre.
Right lower track control arm.
Right hand track rod end.
Windshield.
Passenger's side airbag.
Driver's side airbag.
Left front crash sensor.
Right front crash sensor.

This car drove over a 7" raised curb, before ramming into a brick wall, so add:

Front lower crossmember.
Front subframe.
Right hand strut.
Possible exhaust damage.
Possible oil pan damage.
Transmission torque bar.
Miscellaneous underbody damage.

I don't know what the pre-accident condition of this car was, but going by the paintwork, and the panels, I would say it wasn't that great an example. It's also a pre-facelift Camry XV20, they're not expensive to replace. The right hand chassis frame is wrecked, it will never be as strong as it originally was, even if a section cut from a broken car was welded in.

The impact has actually moved the front end towards the right, meaning the left chassis rail is bent. This car will need to be fully stripped, and a jig used to get the front end even remotely close to factory spec. Lots of suspension geometry set up will be required, an this car will still never be right. It'll spend the rest of it's lifetime munching through tyres, and gulping money.

The engine and transmission have shifted rearwards, no way of telling if the block is cracked, or not. Possibly bust power steering pump, and timing belt / chain cover.

This is obviously not what the thread starter wants to hear, but I'm a realist, I tell it how it is. This car is dead, and in a developed country, will not be allowed back on the road. This is what insurance is all about.

I take it, this car wasn't insured, otherwise this thread wouldn't exist.

Swimnigeria, out of interest, how fast were you driving? Your car is resting against a brick wall, in what looks like a residential area.

The damage to your car, is not consistent with speeds that are permitted in a residential road. undecided

He may have not been driving very fast. That car folds like paper during impact and it's worse if the car had crashed in the past.

All the more reason to junk it. The front end will be much weaker, after it gets fixed.
