David25: From what I can tell, he is not a Swiss citizen, in spite of being born there. According to the rest of the article: "About 25% of people living in Switzerland do not have Swiss citizenship, though some 300,000 were born in the country to foreign parents. Unlike countries such as the United States, being born on Swiss soil does not grant a person the right to Swiss citizenship." So all I can say is "ol' boy, welcome home... you'll do well in the service of politicians, activists, terrorists, area boys, cult boys, armed robbers, or even the police force! Lots of occupations to choose from" 1 Like |

janellemonae: Na you give am Nigerian passport?. That the Swiss authorities say that he is a Nigerian does not mean that he has any Nigerian papers whatsoever. His Nigerian citizenship is deduced from the fact the one or both of his parents hold a Nigerian citizenship. The man has never been to Nigeria all his life and I doubt if he has ever been out of Switzerland. He obviously has no travel documents. 1 Like |

janellemonae: you got a problem yo, A big one. yeah assuming I missed the part that says he's just a resident over there, what does that have to do with the whole Nigeria Nation and comprehension? who the "F" are you?? He was born there, he's never stepped foot in Nigeria so I don’t give a rat's ass if swiss doesn't accept him as a citizen or not. It should be their problem not ours. So Next time your super ignorant butt has an issue with a comment, you take it up with the individual, don't stereotype it to a whole race. |

I agree with you. When the chips are down, as they say, the Britons will be separated from the British. Marrying a foreigner is no guarantee of permanent citizenship anywhere. Chinom: |

This is absolute rubbish. Swiss government is pushing the guy to Nigeria cos he has become a liability & nuisance to society. If he had won Olympic gold medal, I bet they will claim him & sing his praises to high heavens without giving Nigeria any credit. I hope Nigerian government will be smart enough to reject him. Let them deal with it. But wait ooo, if Nigeria rejects him, Swiss government might refuse repatriation our stolen funds in their banking system. Nigeria don enter one chance be dat. |

I don't see what's funny about it. Naturally everyone wants the best people in their country who can contribute positively and that should also apply to Nigeria. It's not switzerlands fault that Nigeria does not implement its rules and deal with foreigners such as Chinese and Indians who abuse the laws especially labour laws and commit crime. Countries have requirements for you to naturalise as a citizen and time and time again he flouted the rules so bye bye. He knows he is not a citizen and he is acting like he doesn't have sense. seguno2: look I don't care! He's lived there all his live. He grew up there, he was influenced badly in their environment. He doesn't now get to be a Nigerian Citizen now that he is a bad egg. so once again, I don't care if the article says he is a resident or nah.. it should be their problem to deal with. |

janellemonae: You might learn a thing or two if you humble yourself and accept your ignorance about migrant issues. The bolded shows you know very little. There are many Nigerian and other nation's children in Europe without a passport but with residence permits. All this particular man needs to get a residence permit is his Swiss birth certificate and proof of address. His parents obtained the residence for him 28years ago when he was born. It's obvious the man is not interested in any citizenship at all, otherwise, he should have become a Swiss citizen a long time ago. 28 years no be beans. I even doubt if his parents are still in Switzerland. His Nigerian citizenship ends in a Swiss local govt data base. In reality, HE IS NOT A NIGERIAN. |

Chinom: Ahh NOT a NIGERIAN, even though he also wasn't Swiss. So when they tendered his birth certificate for residence permit, there was nowhere on d application showing the child's country of citizenship?? Ok. Please go and give this explanation & lecture to the Swiss courts that just deported him. 1 Like |

That knuckle-head failed to take advantage of all the tremendous educational and career opportunities that Switzerland has to offer, but rather went ahead and became a career criminal that conforms perfectly with all the prejudiced and racist assumptions that many in the West hold against Africans, and Nigerians in particular. Deport his monkey-asz back to Nigeria, FOREVER, and let him live on the street, where he can speak Swiss to the area boys, armed robbers and ritual murderers that are all waiting in his homeland, and eager to show this petty criminal what REAL lawbreaking is all about. |

janellemonae: Let me help you out here sweetie, the courts ordered that he be deported. But in reality it's not going to happen. Yes, he does not have a Swiss citizenship, but it's practically impossible for him to be deported to Nigeria. Unless of course he wants to go to Nigeria on a free ticket. Even at that, he still has to convince embassy officials to issue him some sort of travel document and must have the means to pay for it. He was born in Switzerland and has never left Switzerland for 28 years. He doesn't even speak English. That shows you how much of a Swiss he is. |

David25: Thankfully YOUR opinion does not matter in THEIR country's legal/immigration affairs. Did they force him to stay all these years in THEIR country? No. Did they stop him from going back to HIS own country? No. Please remember that not all countries are as LAWLESS as our own country. Which partly explains why we are all eager to go there. 1 Like |

In that case, Nigeria should deport him back to switzerland. Having born in swiss and spent 28yrs in swiss, never been to Nigeria and not knowing anyone in Nigeria. It's funny they are sending him to somewhere he has no idea about, if he is contributing positively to swiss, we will never hear anything about him or rather he will never be linked to Nigeria. Switzerland, the man is your cross, carry him and try not to bail out! |

Chinom: What are you talking about ? I know many people who've been deported from Canada and America. The process is simple. Immigration will detain him, Swiss will see if they have a travel document agreement with Nigeria. That is, if a Nigerian national is being deported the local Nigerian embassy provide his travel documents. And with Nigerians committing crimes across the world, they most likely have such an agreement. And even if they don't, they'll settle the Nigerian embassy or Nigerian government to get his travel documents. The Nigerian government can be bought. And the Swiss government will gladly pay for his flight to Nigeria, it's peanuts for them. Plus like someone said, in order to get legal status in a country, you must declare the country you're a citizen off. Unlike Canada or America he's not guaranteed citizenship by birth. So his parents must have filled out the paperwork and put Nigeria as the citizenship he owns. If not he ever would have got legal status. I remember their was a group of Somalia in canada who were terrorizing the streets. They had legal status but not citizenship. The judge ordered them to be deported but Somalian wouldn't give them travel documents. Canada simply contracted a plane from a company and pilot, rounded them up and dropped them off in Kenya. Since Somalia wouldn't take them, they paid the Kenyan government to accept them. These are 1st world governments. If they want to deport you they will period. 6 Likes |
