Prof. Abletor Sedofia from University of Ghana has this to say:
*"Academic excellence is overrated! I said it. Being top of your class does not necessarily guarantee that you will be at the top of life. You could graduate as the best student in Finance but*
*it doesn't mean you will make more money than everybody else. The best graduating Law student does not necessarily become the best lawyer. The fact is life requires more than the ability to understand a concept,* *memorise it and reproduce it in an exam. School rewards people for their memory. Life rewards people for their imagination.*
*School rewards caution, life rewards daring. School hails those who live by the rules. Life exalts those who break the rules and set new ones. So do I mean people shouldn't study hard in school? Oh, no, you should.* *But don't sacrifice every other thing on the altar of First Class.*
*Don't limit yourself to the classroom. Do something practical. Take a leadership position. Start a business and fail.* *That's a better Entrepreneurship 101.Join or start a club. Contest an election and lose. It will teach you something Political Science 101 will not teach you.* *Attend a seminar. Read books outside the scope of your course.* *Go on*
*missions and win a soul for eternal rewards... Do something you believe in! Think less of* *becoming an excellent student but think more of becoming an excellent person. Make the world your classroom."
Schools only produces class room scholars and technicians that fits in the conventions of an industrial work chain to meet industrial figures requirements with limitations, while the world out side your class room is a load down of things you wish things that were in d class room and wish your Prof had helped u to be better equipped and inform. A school is suppose to be the window to the world and not the other way round. When the structure of the country wealth flow is malformed and infested, the school system is the culprit and should be subject to the prognosis and diagnosis of a theater audience for a comprehensive surgical processing devoid of a malfaecism.
Education started in Africa and the Middle East with Thales and Socrates as the foremost set of scholars, If you wonder why Africans now shores the boarders of Europe and the USA as the Neo Zion of conventions, its because education has evolved amorphously or subliminally from an epistemological phase to a more prosaic state. Alice in the wonderland is the making of Alice. Its up to Alice to remain a child with box of dreams for ever of wake up to accept the terms of a bedevling reality. Our African educational system is like a convention and a device set up to gored the energy and life essence in us. its the reason why 80% of us lost that glitter and sparkle of an entrepreneur before graduation which creates room for the job job hunting mentality. The foundation on which our urbanization and civilization is built festers too many cracks that could cave us all in one swoop.
"The bold may not live forever, but the overly cautious, do not live at all," by John D Rocker Fella. for a more extensive insight and citations, read the book; Why A student work for C student and Why B student work for the government by Robert Kiyosaki. Watsapp 09099176956.
