The national chairman of Community for Peace and Corrupt-free Society, Nigeria, CPCSN, Engr. Ahmad Zakari, said yesterday that solutions to the escalating deadly clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the country were beyond President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Buhari had been severely criticised for what many see as his silence over the massacre of several thousands of Nigerian farmers by Fulani herdsmen in many states. However, Engr. Zakari said that those criticising the President jumped to conclusions on an issue they did not fully understand.

Zakari, who made the observation at a briefing with newsmen in Abuja, said: “The herdsmen / farmers clashes are beyond President Buhari. “Many of those critics don’t even understand the problem. “These conflicts are not the handiwork of Nigerian Fulanis. “I am a Fulani and I can tell you that the Fulanis love peace. “There is no Nigerian Fulani who will go and attack the community where his cattle are grazing
“Those perpetrating the attacks are people from beyond the shores of Nigeria. It is not a problem that only President Buhari alone can solve. It requires a solution by all African Presidents. In fact, it is a problem that must be tackled by the African Union.”

“At the CPCSN, we understand the intrinsic link, a strong interface between corruption and violence. ‘’Corruption invariably creates underdevelopment or total lack of it and ultimately, social injustice. Social injustice itself invariably breeds suspicion, distrust, dislike, disunity and violence eventually.

“It is amazing, therefore, that there has not been a national consensus yet against the ruinous corruption which has bred those ills,” he added. Zakari urged good spirited Nigerians to stand up against corruption at all levels, commending President Buhari for the courage to prosecute senior military officers allegedly involved in corruption.

He also urged members of the public to readily act as whistle-blowers against corrupt practices in the interests of all Nigerians. He disclosed that his organisation would embark on a nationwide sensitisation campaign to mobilise members of the public against corruption. According to him, corruption has held down the nation for too long.

It must not be a statesman or woman who dies before the president makes a remark. Nigeria and Nigerians should learn to uphold the principle of "sanctity of life", EVERY life.

We've seen, time and again, people who didn't just die but were killed because of their religious and/or ethnic leaning. Some even had no leaning at all, but were just farmers whose lives "worth less than those of cattle".

Tension is slowly rising in some quarters while counter-accusations are being tossed back and forth. Yet, the president, who swore an oath to protect lives and property of his citizens keeps mum about all these, for the sake of "political correctness"!

If Buhari doesn't know, his paid handlers must stop failing to remind him that "silence ain't longer golden". Spending few minutes before a tele-prompter to address the nation on these issues and initiating or reiterating sound policies that can forestall future occurrences can go a long way to calm some fraying nerves.

He is so vocal about sad incidents in other countries and his "heartfelt condolences" to them fill my timeline whenever they occur. But when its right under his nose, we suddenly want to "confirm the numbers the media are carrying" or "let the police finish their investigations" or just simply, in their usual manner, "condemn the incident".

People lose their loved ones and properties because the body language from Aso Rock will at the end read "well, we are focused on 'corruption' now. But send them my 'deepest condolences'", and that ends it. Nobody is brought to book! Hell, there's no book anymore.
The Nigerian government must not continue to deny certain underlying issues as marginalization, religious intolerance, inequality, secession and so on. Or wave them aside as "work of detractors from the opposition". Nah, these are hard truths that we must admit and sincerely take steps (even the most daunting) to resolve them.

His paid handlers must tell him also that, apart from unemployed youths, another time bomb waiting to explode is "unresolved grievances"- things happen to certain people and the government looks the other away. When these people later take up arms, we begin to seek "negotiations" while counting our losess.

He must know that even after building sky scrapers, pipelines and bridges today, if these issues remain unresolved, none of them may remain standing later. Not an excuse for any violent group duh, but when peoples welfare have continuously been denigrated, their "love for country" suddenly erodes. And we need Love more than ever.

Till date, we've not heard about the resolution of the Shiites massacre, the IPOB massacre, the Fulani rampage, the religious intolerance (that has now spread to Abuja) and so on. Yet, our president quotes a man as old as he is, that "our unity is not negotiable". How illogical! That shows weakness rather than strength, infidelity rather than trust, immaturity and totalitarianism other than maturity and democracy for us as a nation.
For me, everything is negotiable! Even Joshua asked Israel to "choose today who you'll serve". And recently, fantastic Cameron asked Britons to choose EU or Brexit. The "aiDonKia" attitude must stop so that we can regard people as what they are, humans.

We all should be able to, time and again, look back and say "yes, I signed up for this, I'm Nigerian" and together we can build a Nigeria of our dreams. But that can't happen when you have so many secessionist groups with members thinking that they're not Nigerians "by will" or that Nigeria is a "fraudulent zoo" and so must destroy her assets every time opportunity arises.

But, Buhariers will never reason this way. They'll come at you with the nonsensical "How was it under GEJ or PDP" comparisons. They forget that they said they were bringing "Change".

Well, I guess our biggest mistake was not asking them the kinda Change they were bringing. Now, here we are...looking!
Rest in peace to all victims of unprovoked, unjustifiable violence.

There was no clash between the farmers and fulani herdsmen. The latter were the invaders into farmlands and subsequently attack and kill the farmers when they are confronted. The same way buhari is using security agency to move against Ipob members and NDA,is the same way he should do to fulani herdsmen if he truly want Nigerians to believe that he is backing them.Lame excuse.
