This is dedicated to every victim of jungle justice. To those who were unjustly judge and those who were guilty.

The concept of jungle justice is being frowned at because of some underlying facts. Among them is the fact that perpetrators have little or no time to properly investigate the crime committed. Even if they have the luxury of time to investigate, we should please note that not all things appear the way it seems. This brings us to the story of the ALUU boys where the villagers must have thought: “Now, we would sleep with our two eyes closed in this community as long as we set these boys who steal our valuables, rob with pistols and torment the society ablaze”. Few moments after my brothers hustling in the jungle were served justice, it was realized that the boys were innocent. No wonder the community reeks of gory happenings and incessant deaths. Several others have faced the same fate without having any knowledge of the crime. Some were setup and never knew they had human parts in their bags. Others were just trying to be a Good Samaritan. Cases of people who tried to help accident victims, dumped babies and so forth. Very unfortunate are the ones accused of being witches and wizards and of course the mentally unstable who get punished for confessing gibberish.

No land filled with blood would ever know peace. Just yesterday a man alleged to be the popular “Badoo” was burnt to death like a sacrifice to appease the gods. Where is humanity heading to? Funny enough, quite a number of the perpetrators of these gory acts were not even victims. They are mostly hungry cannibals looking for who to pour out their frustrations. Please, where were their camera phones while our leaders robbed and starved us? They couldn’t find it? Where were they when the scarce petrol used to set this man ablaze was an avenue to get a few rich while some were suffering in abject poverty making people like Badoo uneducated and mentally dejected? Where were their tyres? Oh! They were on the roads escorting this same politicians who create a level playing field for crimes and related activities and never answer to justice.

Well, Eunice was laid to rest yesterday and yes another martyr is gone. Her family understood the flaws of laws, how the judicial system cannot guarantee the appropriate justice deserved because of corruption in the system. They also understood how appalling jungle justice is and did not opt for that .They rather chose a better option. Forgiveness! An expression of the utmost love one can have towards another. We as a people need to take a leap from this family and opt for the laws of love. For so many have died for our sins. Our ancestors have even committed more heinous crimes. The truth is a person that can set another human being on fire is not capable of loving. Therefore, he can’t be a good husband, father nor a good leader and she can’t be a good wife, mother or leader too. If we can forgive the politicians, let us offer clemency for others too for peace sakes. Indeed, the laws has its flaws but love conquers all. God bless Nigeria.
