News reports have revealed the dastardly
act carried out by a family of five who
reportedly fed a day-old baby to a dog as a
meal.
The Kastina State Police Command is reported
to have arrested the culprits and is currently
keeping them in their custody.
The act best described as evil reportedly took
place in Saika village in Batsari Local
Government Area of Kastina State.
The suspects have been identified as 15-year-
old, Wosila Halilu , her three stepbrothers and
their mother.
The Punch reports that Wosila who is the
mother of the baby, had gotten pregnant after
being raped by a 27-year-old farmer identified
as, Musa Garba .
Police sources have disclosed that the family
who saw the pregnancy and subsequent delivery
as shame to the family, held a meeting where
Wosila's brothers and mother decided to feed
the baby to the dog.
The village head of Saika, Dakacin Seika , is said
to have reported the incident to the police,
which led to the arrest of the family as well as
the farmer, Garba, who is in police custody for
alleged rape.
The culprits have been brought before a Kastina
Magistrate Court on three counts of culpable
homicide, criminal conspiracy and rape.
The prosecution disclosed that the offences
were in contravention of sections 235, 387 and
85 of the Penal code.
Magistrate Nura Ladan ordered that further
investigation be carried out into the incident,
while directing that the suspects be remanded
in police custody until the case is brought for
further hearing on August 8, 2016.
