National Anthem: Why The Ambassadorial Nominees Should Cover Their Face In Shame by KingOfAmebo(m): 11:12am On Aug 01, 2016
During football matches you see how passionate those representing their country sing the national anthem, some just can't hold back the tears that rolls down their cheek, same applies to all events. The national anthem is a symbolic anthem that reminds us of our identity as a nation and a call to be good ambassadors. Recently, Nigeria's ambassadorial nominees failed the simple and most important test of reciting the anthem of the nation they were to represent. Sentiments aside, no matter how qualified the ambassadorial nominees are it will be a big shame and big disgrace to Nigeria should they be made ambassadors, not forgetting that this will also set a bad precedence.

The national anthem serves as the identity of a nation and if as an "ambassador" you cannot recite it then you CANNOT represent us? How are you going to represent a nation you know very little about?

Some may say na who national anthem help? look around you, the genesis of our problems as a nation is as a result of the lack of interest and sincerity in reciting the national anthem, all we do is cram without understanding it's meaning and importance.

Arise, O compatriots
Nigeria's call obey
To serve our fatherland
With love and strength and faith
The labour of our heroes past
Shall never be in vain
To serve with heart and might(If only this line was understood by the heartless Nigerians who sucked this country dry)
One nation bound in freedom with
Peace and unity.
