If you do a thorough investigation you may discover youths account for the largest number of offenders.

VERY GOOD.. now extend that opinion to the public officials that loot this country dead when your friends and fellow nairalanders argue over witch-hunting and tribalism instead of focusing on issues

NwaNimo1:
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ESWAMA, Mrs Amaka Anajemba - Hold on, hold on - is this not that 419 woman who had her husband killed when she found out he was to remarry due her not producing any male heir

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A court in Nigeria has sentenced a woman to two and a half years in prison for her part in the country's biggest ever international fraud case.
Amaka Anajemba admitted helping her late husband to persuade an employee of a Brazilian bank to transfer millions of dollars into overseas accounts.

Banco Noroeste lost $242m through the latter half of the 1990s.

The court ordered Anajemba to surrender her houses in Nigeria, the US, UK and Switzerland to help repay the money.

Massive investigation

Anajemba is one of three suspects - the trial of the two other defendants has been adjourned until September.

She was convicted of convincing a senior official at Banco Noroeste, based in Sao Paulo, to siphon off the hundreds of millions of dollars in exchange for a promised $13m kickback on a fictitious contract for an airport in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

The prosecution case was built up after an international investigation involving the authorities of more than a dozen countries.

The fraud was discovered in 1998 when Banco Noroeste was bought by a Spanish bank.

The Brazilian bank official, the company's head of international operations, was arrested three years ago during a trip to the US and extradited to Switzerland, where he was jailed for more than a year.

Widespread corruption

Most of the funds have since been recovered.

The judgement has been greeted enthusiastically by Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission which described it as a landmark achievement.

The BBC's Anna Borzello in Nigeria's commercial capital Lagos says that the country is notorious for its advance fee frauds.

Known as four-one-nines after the Nigerian criminal code prohibiting such practices, greedy or gullible investors are invited to hand over money or bank account details on the promise of large future payments, which never arrive.

In its most common form unsolicited e-mails offer the recipient a share of the wealth of dead African dictators.

I was in Enugu that last Saturday and trapped because our bus couldn't make it to the park before 7am. You can't believe that those animals and robbers called ESWAMA came with a bus and carried all the passengers to their office, including little children and people returning from night vigil. Other robbers employed by the governor are the peace corp working with ministry of works. They tow your car or remove your plate number and you must pay thirty thousand naira.Indeed, Enugu people are in a wrong hand .The governor is "gbulugbulu" indeed, what a name!

If the sanitation was held on a Saturday, then govt is enforcing laws that suppress freedom of worship and religious practise. Many of us are Christians and should know that Saturday is the seventh day of the week. By virtue of Divine Authority we are to suspend civil, domestics, commerce, and worldly activities on this Blessed day(Exo 31vs12-16, 20vs8-11). To concentrate on Worship services and Humanitarian services. But sadly only a few are loyal to this Commandment and will risk their lives, face imprisonment, loose their job or Banishment than to work on the Sabbath day(Saturday). Only a few will choose the hard way than to offend in one point (James 2vs10). If i was in Enugu, i would've been among those in the cage. We (the Sabbatharians) are law abiding: Heb 13vs1-8. We only choose to obey God rather than man: Act 5:29, when govt policies confict with divine Authority. Fro more info visit www.sabbathtosundaychange.com www.endtime-bibleprophecy.com

BREAKING: Upset, as Ugwuanyi appoints Queen of 419 into cabinet

Ugwuanyi
Why would Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, appoint an ex-convict into his cabinet, at a time the whole country is reeling under the weight of bad image?

Was it his way of showing appreciation and payback for work done, to gain entry into a powerful clique controlling immeasurable wealth and authority or simply an outpouring of expression of milk of human kindness, expressed in the Christ-like injunction of go and sin no more?

Whatever it is, Ugwuanyi’s appointment of Mrs. Amaka Anajemba, Nigeria’s Queen of 419 (Advanced Free Fraud) as the Managing Director of Enugu State Waste Management Agency (ESWAMA), is ruffling a lot of feathers in the state, since it was announced on Friday.

Anajemba is the widow of 419 kingpin, Ikechukwu Anajemba, who was assassinated along the Awka axis of Enugu Onitsha experessway in 1998.
The late Anajemba hailed from Ogidi in Idemili North local government area of Anambra State, while his widow hails from Achi in Oji River Local Government Area, and was said to have played the role of the Personal Secretary to the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in one of the greatest 419 pull-offs in Nigeria’s history.
