Leicester City being Premier League champions pocketed as much as £93 million in premier league
prize money compared to £71.6m they earned last year.
Below is the detailed information about how the
Premier League prize money fund is distributed among
20 participating teams.

The prize money awarded to Premier League clubs is
generated from the broadcasting rights sale and this will be
the last year of 2013-16 (3 year) tv rights deal which is worth
around £5.178 Billion in total if we combine both domestic
and overseas tv deals. Premier League has already signed
the next 3 year deal starting from 2016-17 season to 2018-19
worth around £8 billion for three years (here is an in-depth

A prize money fund is produced from the domestic
and overseas tv rights deal and here is how it is distributed.
Permier League 2015-2016 Prize Money Breakdown:

Premier League usually confirms the prize money
distribution after the season is over, thus, they
reveal the types of payments and the sharing model.

EQUAL SHARE

Equal tv rights share to every clubs will be around £55.5
million (£28.57 million from overseas portion and £21.96
million for domestic + £4.79 with central commercial share)

MERIT MONEY starts with £1,236,083 for the 20th place and
£1,236,083 will be added to each position rising up the table.
(which means champions will pocket £24.7 million in merit
based money) – Confirmed.

FACILITY FEE depend on how many times clubs match is
shown live on tv in UK, If a club has 10 or less live matches
they will be paid £8.75 million lump sum. while Manchester
United matches will be shown live the most number of times.


in UK with total 26 live games which means they will get
£875,000 for every live match and that’s £21m. While
Leicester City who are currently champions had 15 live
matches earning them £12.8m (Confirmed).
