jejemanito: And how has Nigeria used any of our advantage to get medals? Abi we no get River for Niger-delta to practice swimming? We no get beaches to practice beach volleyball? Even in games that doesn't require common sense such as boxing and weightlifting, we no get strength for those too? Your excuse and envy of Kenya is pathetic. Kenya is not the only country to have such geographical advantage: Eritrea, Ethiopia and Northern Sudan all have the same geographical advantage. Stop beefing. 5 Likes |

When other countries were busy winning medals,we were busy disgracing oursevelves.poor preparation;late release of funds for preparation;late arrival of olympics kits to mention but a few are early indications that we were going there just to make up the numbers .i am not surprised dat we came back empty handed. we are the giant of DISGRACE on international stage. |

ThunderingHooves: Boss, I have to commend you for making such a calm and persuasive argument. You are a good ambassador of Kenya. I can't say that much for myself because I'm now almost convinced that Nairalanders drown their shame by trying to shame others. I'm almost convinced that there is no way to get through to them other than berating like one would with a lazy donkey. I hope you keep being patient with them because I will keep scolding them ruthlessly. I will personally lower their collective esteem. 3 Likes |

israelboy1:That was only the Basketball team and let's face it, even if those guys camped in Sambisa forest, US will still have carried the gold in B ball. Our people were busy trying to find ways to take the money so generously given to Mikel and his team by that Japanese billionaire. Hiss. I can wager that Dalung has no idea where the next Olympics would be held at this very moment. |

israelboy1:Not true. Athletes village is built for every prospective olympian. Each country, team or team member spends additional expense to trade up their living space for the duration of the Games. Same happened to Britain for the rowers and sailors which someone posted here somewhere. Btw, it was one of their players (I can't remember who) who set the whole thing up as the beds and spaces (2/room) was too small for guys who average 6.4" in height to be comfortable. The info is online if u doubt. I do agree prep is the key for any athlete. We just have no priorities in this country. |

vivaciousvivi: smiles....after reading the text in bold...i agree with you ON THAT.... and for we not having priorities in this country...i think i will want you to eat your words back...WHY.?...it is a thing of the mind....we all know the government has been playing their own silly game...that doesn't mean those underneath should cover there eyes...putting all of the blame on the government. Thank God for Mikel Obi, who helped to cover our unclothedness...while they were been stranded in an HOTEL....if he had played the I DO NOT CARE GAME...the world won't only be interested in bringing them down...and you know the funniest thing...the average citizens are the ones to pay the price of the SHAME |

jejemanito:It's not wrong to use what you have to get what you want, despite Kenya being blessed with such geographical terrain, they use it to their advantage ,they identified their strength in long distance races and have held it tight as their tradition to be winning laurels in such event,Nigeria also have such terrain in the Northern part of the country, the problem Nigeria has is lack of proper planning and motivation for her athletes. There should be a road map for achieving success. The southern Nigeria is good in 100m,200m,400m,800m while the Northern part of Nigeria is good in any thing Long distance races, will it be a taboo for the ministry of sports to identify the talents in these areas and move them to where they can be exposed to real tactics of the sports, short distance athletes can be sent to the United States for short distance programs while the long distance athletes can be sent to Kenya and Ethiopia to train with the people that have the sports as there possession in the right terrain and whether for such sports.Mo Farah is representing Great Britain today and has won laurels for them but most times trains with Kenyan athletes in Kenya, now he is a force to be reckoned with in long distance race and he is a Somalian not even a Kenyan.Nigeria has a long way to go.The country is blessed with talents but the management is nothing to write home about. 2 Likes |
