THE EMERGENCY PRESIDENT AND THE EMERGING ISSUE.

If there is anything that has been characteristic of the Buhari presidency in 15 months it is the total display and manifestation of "unpreparedness" for governance. It seemed as if he had no thought of even participating in the 2015 elections when hurriedly a cabal of self-appointed Nigerian saviors as testified by Obasanjo gathered together to organize an emergency rescue mission for Nigeria's aircraft by employing a truck driver as the pilot.
After failing woefully in every sector of national life and sending the economy into a spiral depression Mr Buhari in his characteristic manner is planning an emergency solution.
I wrote extensively before the 2015 elections that Mr Buhari is perpetually handicapped and unable to function as a democratic president in a pluralistic society as Nigeria. It's not an insult he just doesn't have it in him. His background his training his philosophy of life do not empower him to be a lover of debate or dissent hence there is no formula under the sun that can make Buhari a good civilian president for Nigeria.
The facts were evident since he assumed office that he never wanted a vibrant and functional National Assembly, he belittled the relevance of the weekly FEC meetings, he queried the wisdom of our judges and wanted his and only his voice to be heard.
Well today the same man is seeking a legal route to establish his Pharaonic reign by asking for emergency powers on the economy when we are not suffering from a postwar trauma or outbreak of disease epidemics. It would be the height of madness for our legislators whom he has pummeled terribly to even agree to such proposals. Why should they? Who does he think he is? Some kind of Moses or Jesus? He should just go and sit down and let us manage the nonsense on ground for the next three years and go back to his cow-rearing business. The only beneficiaries of such emergency powers would be Buhari, APC contractors and their hangers on.
