It is known that financial institutions do not lend money out without collateral and an agreement to pay extra charges (interest) on the loan secured. Many see this as a form of extortion, especially to individuals who are only just starting out in business.

In fact, in some parts of the world, the practice of giving or taking loans which comes with any form of interest is frowned at. Many therefore seek alternative sources of securing loans for business or any form of personal projects. Hence, seeking loans from friends and family is common place.
