Am planning of getting a peugeot 406 prestige( 2001 - 2002 MODELS) . Consequent upon this, I need useful info from fellow nairalanders about this car. One surprising thing is that the car appears cheap i.e between 750 and 1.2m compared to the honda Civics, accords and toyota camries within the same age range yet it is an official car used by a lot of government agencies and ministries and it evokes a lot of respect from people. The only thing am worrying about the car is that ma friends have complained about its maintenance costs, durability, fuel efficiency and its tolerance of nigerian roads. Since av not had any experience I do not know if they are correct but one apprehension I have is why the car is quite cheap.

I would say its just a case of demand and supply (price).

I've heard a lot of pple say the cost of maintenance is high but come to think of it, What car made between 2001 -2002 have so cheap spares ? My alternator is N5K, my A/c compressor N6K, and Engine price is from N80K upward.  Yeah prestige spares might be more expensive than mine.
Go round check the spares of other cars of the same year and make ur conclusion.
Wont think its a thing of maintenance price but I think pple in Nigeria got tired of peugeot after 504
Fuel efficiency = 10Litres for 100km (I mean on the highway)
Durability = I would say they are durable
