I sincerely pray he finds what he is looking for,if we choose to remain together, North will still contribute to feeding the nation, if we choose to break away, every region will have something to feed it's people, so which ever way, it's a good thing

I am ashamed of this dunce called Buhari. Who advises him? In 2016 he is still looking for oil when the world is moving away from fossil fuels.
Ways to generate revenue:
1. Information technology. Estimated income generated 4-8 billion dollars /year. India sells software worth 15 billion every year.
2. Modern Cattle ranching 1 billion dollars per year. You may want to look into the Brazilian and Argentinian economies.
3. Gas production. Resolve issues with the Niger Delta indigenes. swallow your inordinate pride. Gas reserves alone will power electricity generation and allow production of fertilizers, plastics and pharmaceuticals and remain for export. this can generate up to 35 billion dollars per year.
4. Education. Unleash the dynamic potential in Nigeria by investing massively in Education. Invite back home foreign based phD's and master degree holders. Employ expatriates to augment the local stock of teachers. Estimated income generated 100 billion in 15 years[b/]
5. Agric value chain. Nigeria can export cashew, peanut butter, chocolate, soap, starch, pineapple juice and flakes, salad items, pork, chicken, fish, bananas, plantain, yam powder, palm wine, coconut juice. This can generate up to [b] 20 billion dollars in the next one or two decades
6. Solar power
7. Medical tourism. Nigerian doctors Nurses and health workers populate hospitals in the USA, GB, Australia, South Africa and Caribbean. The number of doctors and nurses in Baltimore for instance is embarrassing. Try and get these people home to start modern health centers. In the whole of Africa except for South Africa there is no Level 1 trauma center. We can generate up to [b] 1 billion dollars a year

8.Nollywood and Kannywood
...and many others.

Someone should please tell this illiterate mugu mallam to stop wasting money looking for oil. The problem is not lack of hydrocarbon resources. It it is poor management and predatory rulers especially those from the north. I regret supporting this fool in 2015.

Things are changing. The North must become self sufficient and diversification into oil, agriculture and our solid minerals is the way to go. It's for the good of the entire country.

God bless the President.

Buhari is not searching, and has never searched for oil in Anambra State.
Oil was long discovered and the exploration company Orient Petroleum was commissioned by Jonathan in 2014.
As a matter of Fact, a league of Anambra businessmen are Siting Nigeria's first private refinery in Anambra state.

Hmm.....did u mention Orient Pet? Well...that ship did not even sail. They are having boundary issues with Kogi at the height of their prospecting for Hydrocarbons. Serious battles, far worse than the ND militancy. To the point burning some key installations of one of KCA's rig and killing personnel (not even kidnapping sef).
To cap it off, 3 wells drilled there were a miss....running the coy into real financial debt.
Well.....doesn't mean the govt shld not try other zones, but for the most proven areas, they shld come to an agreement that both parties would walk away happy. It's jus that it's hard to trust the govt because since the 60's, till now wen the sector was making serious money, dey didn't do squat......na now wen Iran n it's cohorts don flood the market crashing prices, dem wan promise n deliver
Times like these, I wish dangote and other budding private refineries come up so we can atleast have all all the constituents of crude, reduce importation, strengthen d naira, n ensure the growth of other sectors.
In all this, monopolistic Dangote stands to make some serious cheddar, but it beats the importation, corruption and subsidy scammers within the govt.
My Two cents.

Dahomey is located in nothern benin republic not Nigeria

The Dahomey Basin is a combination of inland / coastal / offshore basin that stretches from southeastern Ghana through Togo and the Republic of Benin to southwestern Nigeria. It is separated from the Niger Delta by a subsurface basement high referred to as the Okitipupa Ridge. Its offshore extent is poorly defined. Sediment deposition follows an east-west trend.

how does the above trash invalidate the fact that 30trillion cubic feet of gas has since been discovered in Anambra?

Yes. Diversification does not mean abandoning your current revenue earner, but exploring and developing other revenue sources in case any of them is adversely affected so you can rely on another for sustenance during hard times.

The northern core revenue earner is agriculture (food products, leather, cash crops) and we are diversifying into oil, while that of the South is oil so it should diversify into agriculture and other sources. That is diversification.
Yes! diversification is not abandoning your current revenue base but speaking of diversification at the helm of dwindled oil price, it is unwise to throw our energy in same sector when there are several other explorable sectors.

It is really pathetic that we have leaders that lack foresight in governors... Oil is becoming irrelevant, how do you want a country of almost 200million to survive on oil revenue of less than 20billion dollars when country like Ethiopia are making over 5 billion dollars from exportation of rose flower to Europe alone.

The real diversification should gear utowards unlocking our industrial and commercial potential. I expect a serious government should declare a state of emergency in rail construction, cities like onitsha, Lagos, port Harcourt, ibadan, enugu, aba, nzuka, kaduna, Abuja, kano, etc should be linked with good railway network to aid Commerce and industrialization. I expect the count to declare a state of emergency on power, create small industrial parks, make loan accessible to small scale entrepreneurs, change land use act so that people can get land easily for commercial agriculture purpose

Well said.
However investment in infrastructure, the real sector and power do require a lot of capital. While we work towards diversification our current revenue structure has to be made efficient and still expanded.

NThis is another way of eating and wasting money, they can never fine oil in northern nigeria period. The geological structure of the places mentioned in the north has no oil collection trough even if they is such sedimentation it will either flow to chad, niger or cameroon or even to niger delta where such collection is in thier geological design. Hmmm
