Troops of the Special Forces Battalion have killed five militants and recovered some arms and ammunition from their camp in Rivers State.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in a statement on Saturday that the militants were killed in an operation which was a prelude to ‘Exercise Crocodile Smile’ in the Niger Delta.
Usman said that 23 suspects were arrested and several others were injured during the operation.
He said that ‘Operation Crocodile Smile’ is designed to flush out criminal elements in the Niger Delta region.
