Appoint more people, so more salaries will be paid?...............This is not how to empower a people!
The money will be spent regardless, either on over inflated projects that ends up in private pockets or like this guy is doing on salaries pick your choice. This is the Cross River state version of economic stimulus program in the time of recession you put money in ordinary people's pocket to stimulate the economy, that is how America responded to the 2008 recession.

We both know how those appointees were picked and going by the Nigerian factor it will not inclusive. I will prefer the stimulus being tied to visible productivity. I was shocked when l read ThisDay sometime in June that Calabar has succumbed to refuse, this same Calabar that was a sight to behold during Donald Duke's tenure. Latching on this predicament, it will make more sense if the government encourage youths in each neighbourhood to organize themselves into groups and ensure their hoods have their garbage properly disposed and they will only be paid for a job that is seen to be well done.

This is one state where the great expectations have gone so so horribly wrong. And coming from the most educated pair of governors ever to grace the seat of government anywhere in nigeria, is just sad. Cross-River badly needs a viable opposition and the APC should prepare to take over power come 2019 if this is all the PDP has to offer. The days of Donald Duke seem like a distant memory now. Education can never make up for exposure and it is not proportional to wisdom, ideas or innovation. You either have it or you don't have it.

You can acquire both education or exposure so it's erroneous to claim that you 'either have it or you don't. That simply isn't true.

It's hard to know if Ben Ayade is truly as clueless as he appears to be (via the media) or he's just playing to an impoverished audience.

Funny governor. Appointing so much, in these hard times, especially with dwindling federal allocations? All I can see in these his appointments are excessive duplication of functions. Which is actually one of the demerits of the Nigerian federalism. Because I believe very well, that each of these his aide, will have a PA, that will have a PA, that will have even an SA or PA. How does he expect to pay salaries of his new aides and their load, coupled with civil servants salaries? Mr governor please rethink. In the long run, he'll be running the state into debt

The govnr seems to know what he is doing, he shows understanding of the Nigerian economy.
That's not the solution, free income. What happens after him? He has to really empower people on skill acquisition including graduates who are ready to learn skill. He's killing the state by this approach, look at Bayelsa state too, too much people on government payroll. That's dumb.

Good arguement by the Governor. Spreading the largesse is a sure way of reducing hunger among the populace, but the political appointees is way too large. 1,100? Mehnn, that's outrageous!

No Agenda at all. This Governor can talk....talk and go, who saiiiii. I only pray for 2019 for Cross River State.
May Cross River State be delivered from the following:
1. Solombo children.....
2. Cultism
3. Inter Community War
4. Bad Road
5. High Tax and multiple taxation
6. Abuse of Governor convoy by Broad
7. Non payment of pensioners salaries
8. Dirty Calabar City and Street
9. Unfinished project: Textile Industry ...and so on
Say Amen if you understand.

Ayade is still owing 3months local Government Salary and one month State Salary yet he is not perturbed.

This man for sure knows he won't go for next tenure. This is someone who is suppose to be reasonable.

People of Cross River, let us restrategise to make sure this mistake of a Governor never happens again.

Long live Nigeria
Long live Cross River State

Vote Jeddy Agba#Governor2019
Just three months? And only one month LG salary? Mehnn, you guys are lucky. Have you been to Imo State? I do not think you have. In that State, workers are owed up to eight months and the Governor does not bat an eye lid about it. Instead, he erroneously and unabashedly claims that he is not owing any worker and even thumps his chest and says that he has paid the civil servants to date! Such bare-faced lies!

I don't see anything wrong in appointing 1100 political appointees as long as he can afford to pay them which he said he could, he should even appoint more the salary they get will put food on a family's table, send kids to school, help their dependants etc. What use is building over inflated roads when people are hungry.

Hmmmmmm. Tell me something. How will those appointees create revenue for the state. This isn't how economy grow. Recurrent expenses have increase with little or no investment in capital revenue. This is not a pragmatic approach
