The unprecedented action of Jephtaph Abolarin, a former 300 level student of University of Ilorin, who recently withdrew his admission from the institution on account of "Restitution", brought to bear in my mind a deeper understanding cum the prerequisite and requirements for restitution.
Although his actions have been maligned and aligned with ineptitude, shallow understanding of the scripture, insanity or a wealth of a CGPA at it ebb, his doing is a apparently a food for thought.
Indeed, restitution is one of the hardest concepts of life to practice.
Yet, it is enshrined in the Holy scriptures just just like the Ten Commandment.
It is so difficult that the concept has been neglected and relegated to the far ends of imagination.
No body talks about it. It is treated with levity and contempt and much reckoned to be obsolete tenet of life. Yet, it is an integral and evaluative component of existence.
But how can contemporary earthly man exert restitution when he has baptized his soul and spirit in the ocean of immortality, laddened with peccancy, felony and depravity?
Surely, restitution transcend a physical action, even away from spiritual domain, but taking anchor on the consciencene and sub-conscience of an individual, which of course is a function of the soul.
How many of us still put our conscience to bear in our daily dealings?
Or to what extent have we suppressed our consciences by things we consider "insignificant"?
Remember the words of the scripture; "Because they denied the truth, God let them to live in errors and even in more greater sins"(Rom.1:24-26).
As many that may have executed the young man on the altar of character assassination, even though his action may seem irrational, have a rethink!
It is appalling that many a person has cast their conscience into the sea of perdition that they don't feel the impulse of misdeeds.
Otherwise, how could a citizen hoard a volume of many that is taking his country generations to keep recovering?
Or what is the justification for leaders to allow suffering permeate the abode of the people like a flood from the enchanted forest?
Or is it still an act of conscience to abandon the needy in the streets like species of no origin?
Nevertheless, we are guilty of the sin of restitution.
You have a restitution to make for the words of your mouth!
For your actions and inactions!
For your imagination and condemnation!
Indeed, we have a restitution to make!
Remember, you shall be judged by what you do and those you failed to do.
