Driving home, saw this rough Julius Berger driver along Abeokuta Oshodi express way intimidating passengers with his driving skills. I wanted to call to know how true the line is. Alas, the digits were not complete. This is a staff bus or truck carrying Nigerians in an expressway! As far back as 2013, Lagos State House of Assembly resolved to amend the state’s Transportation Law, 2000 to prohibit any company from using an articulated vehicle otherwise called trailers to convey its workers. At a plenary session of the House, Adeyemi Ikuforiji directed a joint committee to look into the issue, and report to the House in January 2014. The report is what the public has not seen up till now! This is not Juluis Berger’s headache. They have better things to think than bother about bunch of some fellows at the state legislature. That is not the problem here. The problem is having fake or incomplete numbers as a contact call at the time of emergency.

Now the next question is this : is it proper to use such a truck to convey the staff members. Learnt that the truck is used to convey “lesser” staff. I wonder if they use this type of truck to convey their staff at their German sites. Maybe they have approval by the Minister of Labour to convey their staff in such a vehicle. If there is approval by either minister of labour or that if transport ,we should know. Sometimes we wonder what NLC is doing about this ? Maybe they also have approval by the NLC to convey staff members in such a manner. This reminds us of the South USA slave conveyance to the plantations. It will also nice to know how they convey their passengers to their sites in Germany. Maybe Africans are lesser and they need basic transport without any comforts . Maybe they construction giant is bigger than government .
