Re: Buhari Appoints son in-law with Accounts Diploma as Executive Director NIMASA

It is very embarrassing the way some of us misuse the blessings of information and communication age by coming down to a level so low that one could ask a question wether these people have gone to school or become blindfolded by their greed and ego such that they could not see or reason the way they should.

The writer accuses the president of appointing one Bashir Jamoh with a Diploma in Accounts to the position of Executive Director in NIMASA because he is married to the president's daughter.
In his write up he stated that the said Mr Bashir transferred service from Kaduna state government and joined the NIMASA in the year 1994.
Common sense does not agree for a person with a diploma to rise to the position of Assistant Director within 22 years of service (unless of course if he has been an in law to all the past directors of the Agency). This common sense suspects the whole allegation and calls for investigation - after all it's information age!

To do justice to the tripartite parties comprised of Mr President Mr Bashir and the brilliant writer whom I already suspect could be painting mixed truths and taking advantage of the social media to brainwash some innocent readers who would only read the headlines and form opinion without verifying; I subjected all the allegation to empirical investigation.

Start with the allegation of Bashir being a Diploma holder, I surf through the Internet and lucky enough clicked on Mr Jamoh's profile on Likeldn.
I summarized the lengthy profile to fit the minimum words I wish to utilize on this.

PERSONAL PROFILE
Bashir Y Jamoh has Over twenty five (25) years of professional experience following a Diploma in Accounting, from ABU Zaria, IMM Professional Certificate (UK), PGD in Management and Master Degree in Management from BUK and Korea Maritime and Ocean Universities respectively. He is presently a Ph.D student at the Uniport specializing in Logistics and Transport Management.

Having attained management position since 2003, He has realized his career growth through effective performance as Principal Officer, Controller, Chief Administrator, Assistant Director and Head of various units.
A consummate Administrator and trainer, he has organised and facilitated leadership training and manpower development programmes in several countries including U.K., U.S.A., U.A.E., South Africa, Brazil, Malaysia and Sweden among others. He has served in technical and advisory capacities to the Agency’s management. As Head of unit, he provides leadership for a number of line managers and officers on learning and manpower development needs within and outside the agency. He is a highly esteemed and respected expert in maritime human capacity building, public-private partnership development in addition to Shipping Management and International trade.
This seasoned administrator and maritime expert is a member of many professional bodies amongst which are Chartered Institute of Administration of Nigeria (CIA), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics (CILT), Institute of Business Development (IBD), Academy of Entrepreneurial Studies (AES), Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management (IPDM), Institute of Maritime Economist (IME) (Canada), Institute of Materials Management UK (IMM) & Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIA). He is a recipient of Distinguished Merit Award from the Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria and International students of the faculty of Law, Bayero University, Kano.
Jamoh possesses the qualities of a good leader in abundance; de-tribalized, disciplined and committed to developing other people’s potentials.

Accountant produce purchase, FASCOM, Kaduna st. (May 1987-Dec 1988)
He is a fellow and Member of More than a dozen of relevant professional bodies both domestic and international.

Coming to know these facts about Mr Bashir I begun to think if he is also a son In Law to the former presidents Late Umaru Musa and GEJ as he served as a member ministerial committees on the development of oil bunkering market in Nigeria and on Personnel matters on NIMASA respectively during their tenures!

Incase you forget, perhaps you may wish to know the requirements to become an executive director (you can browse the Internet for more)
Degree Required: Bachelor degree & Masters degree is recommended
Key skills: Management and delegation skills
Job Growth: 11% (for all top executives )
Initial career appointments to the senior executive service (SES) must be based on merit competition. The Law requires agencies to establish an executive Resources Board to conduct the merit staffing process to meet its unique needs. The process includes choosing a selection method, advertising the position, preliminary review of the applications by personnel specialists, rating and ranking the applicants by a panel with knowledge of the job's requirements, evaluation of each candidates qualification by an executive resources board and making recommendations to the appointing authorities.

Now, giving the facts above which was entirely sourced from the Internet using the right search phrases I can safely dispute your allegations which I believe is baseless and unfounded. It is calculated attempt to tarnish the good image of this administration by those who are bent on getting promoted by all means regardless of their poor performance and shabby CV.
Mr president has done the right thing by confirming the recommendations of the panel saddled with the responsibility of selecting the most competent candidates for these positions.
By God's grace the president will deliver beyond the expectations of Nigerians.
