Remember guys :more news at http://davesblog.over-blog.com . Some Benin palace chiefs have disagreed over the purported endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for the state’s governorship election – Also, candidates of the AA and ACD have announced their withdrawal from the election and have adopted PDP’s Osagie Ize- Iyamu Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu during a campaign tour in Benin city Some Benin palace chiefs have disagreed over the purported endorsement of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for the state’s governorship election scheduled for September 28. According to a report by Punch newspaper, a group of chiefs chiefs belonging to the Egha Evbo’ Nore (town chiefs) had last week adopted the PDP candidate at the residence of the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion. But another group of palace chiefs, led by the Obazelu of Benin, Chief Osaro Idah, condemned the action, asked that the palace should not be dragged into partisan politics. “Arase has since been suspended from participating in palace activities; he wore palace dress and some beads in order to be seen as a chief. He started going from village to village to meet the elders to vote for the PDP. “We have been looking for him to face the full wrath of the law because he is not a chief. I am the Obazelu of Benin Kingdom. I am qualified to know who is the Igiehon of Benin. I deal more with Igiehons.” He added, “Once they are caught, the palace will mete out necessary sanctions. They are not chiefs. They have been hiding since we heard about their activities. Once we catch them, we will hand them over to the police. “The palace will never call for support for any candidate. We always pray for the best to emerge. We are going to report to appropriate sections of the palace to look into such defaults.” Meanwhile, candidates of the Action Alliance (AA) and Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD) for the state governorship election, Ishaka Paul Ofomile and Andrew Igwemoh, respectively, have announced their withdrawal from the election and have adopted the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. Recall that the candidates of the KOWA Party, Thompson Osadolor, and the People for Democratic Change (PDC), Bishop Akharame, had stepped down for Ize-Iyamu, bringing the number of candidates who have withdrew their gubernatorial ambitions for Ize-Iyamu to four. The ACD candidate said Oshiomhole only developed a section of Iyamho community, regretting that the governor has succeeded in building a university in Iyamho that is not affordable for the people of the community.
