Can a Muslim Upload his/her Pictures On Social Media? by tintingz(m): 11:23am On Sep 23, 2016 |
Asalaam Alaykum, I have read many scholars opinion on Muslims about uploading pictures on social media especially women, they have quoted Quran verses and Hadiths to their opinions. They say it is haraam, temptation, leads to fitnah. I agree Hijab is obligatory for Muslim women but I still don't get the logic behind scholars saying Muslim women shouldn't upload pictures on social media even on Hijab. • Is it haraam for a Muslim woman on Hijab(covering her body) upload pictures on social media? • What's the different between her uploading pictures(for people to see her face) and i seeing her physically? 6 Likes 2 Shares |

tintingz: Men can upload, but women cant and shouldn't.... I didn't know women shouldn't, just got know recently.. I agree Hijab is obligatory for Muslim women but I still don't get the logic behind scholars saying Muslim women shouldn't upload pictures on social media even on Hijab. You undertand why, as you've stated one of the reasons yourself "fitna". You just dont want to agree because you want to be "modern". • Is it haraam for a Muslim woman on Hijab(covering her body) upload pictures on social media? Yes. • What's the different between her uploading pictures(for people to see her face) and i seeing her physically? Are you suppose to stare at her in the first place(if seen physically)? 17 Likes 2 Shares |

Empiree:There are people who worship idols and images during does time, I think those are the image makers related to the hadiths and it was forbidden because of that. I'm talking about taking pictures with devices. And besides all this scholars are even confusing rational Muslim like me. 2 Likes 1 Share |

tintingz:I understand. If you have read further in the thread i provided, you would noticed we talked about that as well. Allow me to quote myself from the thread. Empiree: So from my write up, it is clear there is nothing wrong taking pictures from device and posting it on internet. What is wrong is posting INAPPROPRIATE/NUDE pictures online. If taking picture from your device and posting it on fb is haram, then, how about many muslims we see online with their pictures attached. So there is nothing wrong posting your pictures online unless if you are concern about security. 12 Likes |

lexiconkabir:men can and women can't... Funny. Do you also believe women shouldn't drive? I didn't know women shouldn't, just got know recently..I was shocked the first time I heard about it. You undertand why, as you've stated one of the reasons yourself "fitna". You just dont want to agree because you want to be "modern".I thought Islam is also for the present and future what's wrong for me to be modern when most of what we do are even modern. You said men can upload picture where is the fitna for women? Yes.I'm talking about women on hijab uploading pictures not women uploading pictures half-naked like Kim kardashian or Amber Rose. Are you suppose to stare at her in the first place(if seen physically)? She is on hijab, her body is well covered, So I can't stare if my intention is to marry her? 12 Likes 2 Shares |

tintingz: Is a man's face awrah? Do you also believe women shouldn't drive? As regards to Saudi issue of women not driving, its not a religious issue but a societal one, so says Adel Jubeir the foreign minister of SA, however a woman should not travel(the society she lives in determines what "travel" means) without her male mahram. I thought Islam is also for the present and future what's wrong for me to be modern when most of what we do are even modern You could see me putting modern in quotes, being modern means giving an interpretation to the deen that contradicts the traditional interpretation. You said men can upload picture where is the fitna for women? Kindly go and know what is awrah for men and what is awrah for women, i wont do that for you, aftee you've done that, then judge if its fitnah or not. I'm talking about women on hijab uploading pictures not women uploading pictures half-naked like Kim kardashian or Amber Rose. There is possibility of male viewers to stare at the picture which creates desires leading to zina, so shut all doors to that! She is on hijab, her body is well covered, So I can't stare if my intention is to marry her? Is it every girl you see (her) picture or physically the intention of marriage comes to your mind? Be sincere with yourself. If it is no, then you shouldn't be staring at ladies except if you are DEFINITELY SURE THAT LOOKING IS THE ONLY TTHING LEFT FOR YOU TO MARRY EACH OTHER, i.e youve done other things like background checks and so on. 7 Likes 1 Share |

As regards to Saudi issue of women not driving, its not a religious issue but a societal one, so says Adel Jubeir the foreign minister of SA, however a woman should not travel(the society she lives in determines what "travel" means) without her male mahram. Then Uploading pictures shouldn't also be a religious issue as far she's on hijab. You could see me putting modern in quotes, being modern means giving an interpretation to the deen that contradicts the traditional interpretation.Quote any Quran or hadith that forbade uploading pictures on social media using a device. Kindly go and know what is awrah for men and what is awrah for women, i wont do that for you, aftee you've done that, then judge if its fitnah or not.Does that have to do with a woman uploading pictures with her hijab on? Pictures on social media is also a mode of identification. There is possibility of male viewers to stare at the picture which creates desires leading to zina, so shut all doors to that!A woman on hijab that cover her body? Is it every girl you see (her) picture or physically the intention of marriage comes to your mind? Be sincere with yourself.I attend to customers I should close my eyes and attend to her? She's my boss i should not look at her face when she talk to me? She's giving a speech I should not look at her? How does that even possible not to look at the opposite sex? That was why I related this to pictures on social media. I guess i will blind fold my eyes and walk like a blind man. 12 Likes 2 Shares |

lexiconkabir: La! Taking pictures is prohibited for both men and women Abdullaah ibn Mas'ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Those who will be most severely punished by Allaah on the Day of Resurrection will be the image-makers." (Reported by al-Bukhaari, see al-Fath, 10/382). Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Allaah, may He be exalted, says: 'Who does more wrong than the one who tries to create something like My creation? Let him create a grain of wheat or a kernel of corn.'" (Reported by al-Bukhaari, see Fath al-Baari, 10/385). 'Ali (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: "Shall I not send you on the same mission as the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent me? Do not leave any built-up tomb without levelling it, and do not leave any picture in any house without erasing it." (Reported by Muslim and al-Nisaa'i; this is the version narrated by al-Nisaa'i). Ibn 'Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Every image-maker will be in the Fire, and for every image that he made a soul will be created for him, which will be punished in the Fire." Ibn 'Abbaas said: "If you must do that, make pictures of trees and other inanimate objects." (Reported by Muslim, 3/1871) These ahaadeeth indicate that pictures of animate beings are haraam, whether they are humans or other creatures, whether they are three-dimensional or two-dimensional, whether they are printed, drawn, etched, engraved, carved, cast in moulds, etc. Photographs which are essential are permitted - such as those required for identity documents, or for identifying or pursuing criminals [e.g. "wanted" posters and the like - translator's note], or for educational purposes which cannot be achieved otherwise. The principle in sharee'ah is that we should not exaggerate about what is necessary. 5 Likes |

I have been patiently waiting for an Islam thread on the front page for days now....I have some couple of questions for my Muslim brothers....I am a Christian and I have been trying to study Islam in my own way,am not converting to Islam am just interested in learning more about it as I love some aspect of the religion ie (homosexual).I believe Islam forbid it and it stands still till today which am very happy about it. My question is why do Allah being refers to as WE in the Quran. We is plural not singular can someone please enlighten me on this. 3 Likes |

omobritiko:This is a good question and one that Bible readers have also asked about. The term "We" in the Bible and in the Quran is the royal "We" - as an example when the king says, "We decree the following declaration, etc." or, "We are not amused." It does not indicate plural; rather it displays the highest position in the language. English, Persian, Hebrew, Arabic and many languages provide for the usage of "We" for the royal figure. It is helpful to note the same dignity is given to the person being spoken to in English. We say to someone, "You ARE my friend." Yet the person is only one person standing there. Why did we say "ARE" instead of "IS"? The noun "you" is singular and should therefore be associated with a singular verb for the state of being, yet we say, "are." The same is true for the speaker when referring to himself or herself. We say, "I am" and this is also in the royal plural, instead of saying, "I is." When Allah uses the term "HE" in Quran it is similar to the above answer. The word "He" is used when referring to Allah out of respect, dignity and high status. It would be totally inappropriate to use the word "it" and would not convey the proper understanding of Allah being who Allah is; Alive, Compassionate, Forgiving, Patient, Loving, etc. It is not correct to associate the word "He" with gender, as this would be comparing Allah to the creation, something totally against the teaching of Quran. http://www.godallah.com/we_and_he.php 5 Likes |

And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed. Q 24 VS 31 1 Like |

omobritiko:Firstly, only Allah has the right to be accorded the highest respect. In fact, only those that are sanctioned by Allah, to be respected are worthy of being respected (e.g. The prophets AS). The use of 'WE' by Allah in the Quran doe not depict plurality rather, the word was used severally, by Allah, to show superiority, respect and glory. Even humans, in some languages such as Yoruba, use we/them/they for an elderly person. Sometimes, issues to be narrated to the prophet will not properly capture efforts (by Allah's permission of course) of prophet/messenger involved so, in order to honour the prophet involved, the use of WE could mean the blessings/judgement/deed of Allah (in conjunction with the effort of the prophet sent) on the affected community May Allah increase us in knowledge 1 Like |

Because as you know, the demon is a counterfeiter who counterfeits everything the living God does. Muslims will give you some baseless answer but we all know that he refers himself as we simply because the Jehovah God also referred to himself as "us" in the bible. Satan has his own trinity just like God does. omobritiko: 2 Likes 1 Share |
