Praise be to Allaah. Making images or pictures of animate beings, including humans, birds and animals, is not permissible because of the evidence which indicates that making images is forbidden and that the one who does that is cursed. No exception is made from that apart from cases of necessity or urgent need, such as identification pictures and the like. This prohibition applies to: Fixed images, whether they are on paper, fabric, walls and so on. As for images that are not fixed and cannot be shown except by means of equipment, such as digital pictures that are taken with the camera on a mobile phone or computer, which appear on the screen and then disappear, they are not included in this prohibition, as was stated by several scholars. Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said: Images made by modern means are of two types: (i) Those that cannot be seen independently, ss I have been told is the case with images made on videotapes. There is no ruling on these at all and they do not come under the prohibition at all. Hence they were permitted by the scholars who forbid making images with cameras that are printed on paper, and they said: There is nothing wrong with this (ii) Those that are printed on paper… End quote from ash-Sharh al-Munti‘, 2/197 Shaykh Dr. Khaalid al-Mushayqih (may Allah preserve him) was asked: I take pictures of my little children with the camera on my mobile phone for memories, but I read that pictures for memories are haraam according to sharee‘ah. Does this come under this shar‘i prohibition on image making, or is it okay to take pictures with the camera on the mobile phone? What is the evidence for this? I also read that pictures on computers and mobile phones are not regarded as “images”, because they are stored in memory and are not printed on paper, hence they do not prevent the angels from entering. If I open the picture on the mobile phone or computer, will that make the angels leave or not? I hope that you can reply in detail because this matter is very confusing. May Allah reward you with good. He replied: Pictures that are on mobile phones or in computers, or that are videoed, do not come under the ruling on photographs because they are not fixed and do not last, unless they are extracted and printed. Based on that, there is nothing wrong with keeping them on the mobile phone so long as they do not include anything haraam. And Allah knows best. End quote from the Shaykh’s website. Based on that, if you took the pictures with a mobile phone or digital camera, then you went on the computer and put them in the chat room without printing them in any fixed form, that does not come under the prohibition on image making. But it is not allowed to put pictures of women in chat rooms because that may result in temptation and provocation of desires. And Allah knows best. #islamqa.com

IBROHIM:
The use of plurality is a form of regard, authority in the Arabic literature! The We, Us describe the Authority of Allah! You find it in many places in the glorious qur'an!!!
Even yoruba dialet like 'awa' 'eyin' 'awon' does not mean plurality but respect

I have been patiently waiting for an Islam thread on the front page for days now....I have some couple of questions for my Muslim brothers....I am a Christian and I have been trying to study Islam in my own way,am not converting to Islam am just interested in learning more about it as I love some aspect of the religion ie (homosexual).I believe Islam forbid it and it stands still till today which am very happy about it.

My question is why do Allah being refers to as WE in the Quran. We is plural not singular can someone please enlighten me on this.
tintingz, remember i to,ld you about this?.This is Allah's religion and this is just one of the proof. See what he said?

AbuHammaad:

La!

Taking pictures is prohibited for both men and women

Abdullaah ibn Mas'ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Those who will be most severely punished by Allaah on the Day of Resurrection will be the image-makers." (Reported by al-Bukhaari, see al-Fath, 10/382).

Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Allaah, may He be exalted, says: 'Who does more wrong than the one who tries to create something like My creation? Let him create a grain of wheat or a kernel of corn.'" (Reported by al-Bukhaari, see Fath al-Baari, 10/385).

'Ali (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: "Shall I not send you on the same mission as the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent me? Do not leave any built-up tomb without levelling it, and do not leave any picture in any house without erasing it." (Reported by Muslim and al-Nisaa'i; this is the version narrated by al-Nisaa'i).

Ibn 'Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him and his father) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Every image-maker will be in the Fire, and for every image that he made a soul will be created for him, which will be punished in the Fire." Ibn 'Abbaas said: "If you must do that, make pictures of trees and other inanimate objects." (Reported by Muslim, 3/1871)

These ahaadeeth indicate that pictures of animate beings are haraam, whether they are humans or other creatures, whether they are three-dimensional or two-dimensional, whether they are printed, drawn, etched, engraved, carved, cast in moulds, etc.

Photographs which are essential are permitted - such as those required for identity documents, or for identifying or pursuing criminals [e.g. "wanted" posters and the like - translator's note], or for educational purposes which cannot be achieved otherwise. The principle in sharee'ah is that we should not exaggerate about what is necessary.

I know about the hadith brother, see taking pictures without printing them is like looking at the mirror, that way you've not made an image, this is a scholarly opinion.

in the first place are you a Muslim? If yes u need to go and learn why are you trying to make Haram Halal?
The use of photography, snapping pictures, image making is still a debate among the scholars of Islam, so maybe you should refer your questions to them.

See that? I didnt even listened to this until now. Thanks to Allah for given me that little wisdom. I emphasized in this thread and the other one that it is haram only when it is for worship or nude stuff. That saves the whole arguments. Thanks for posting this video.

So i repeat, it is forbidden to have picture(s) in the direction of Qibla. It is not good to prostrate where picture is placed. Very simple And I also gave my personal excuse for not hanging pictures not religious reason. I also appreciate Dr. Naik for respecting opinions of those scholars. He deserves my thumbs up for that.

Oga, nothing like "Rational Muslim". Either a Muslim or non-Muslim.
My rationality is based on the Quran and Hadiths.

There are many verses in the Quran that talk about Reasoning.

Lol...thanks but no thanks. cheesy Ain't got time for Tv presentation and I beg to differ that I am not qualified at all. I prefer to rant behind computer grin grin grin grin Just like i used to be keyboard warrior shocked grin grin

Anyways, knowledge of Islam EVOLVES. Since Quran claims to explain PAST. PRESENT and FUTURE, then, we deduce knowledge as things progress. This does not mean past scholars are deficient. No No No. Sometimes, they gave their opinions base on the situation in their time. If knowledge develops today means that there was no data available to previous scholars as it is today.

In Shari'a, there are things that are flexible in matter of fuqaha(Fiqh). There are those that will NEVER EVER change that are obligatory and legislated like Salat, zakat, hajj, etc. And also 4 or 5 hudud legislated in the Qur'an like zina, theft etc. Anything else is flexible and depends on TIME. So basically Shari'a is divided into two.
