Him no mind because him no write to make money but to make himself known, people way do am for the love of the money won't be happy about it at all.

He has made his (enough) money from E-Copies and those sold in his "advanced" environment.
if you are caught pirating in those countries, you go to jail. SIMPLE

These pirated copies are just for the "hungry sharks" of the third world.
It does not make piracy right though.
undecided undecided

Dont compare him with the Nigeria artiste/author!

For those of u abusing nigerian writers and movie producers, I know u have not written a story or text of about 20 pages to know how difficult it is to brainstorm before writing. Even as a student, it is very painful and annoying to see for classmate copy from ur assignment without ur permission, so acting as if priracy is good.

Paulo has always been rumoured to release e-copies of his book online masquerading as a pirate. He once said something like "an accomplished writer is one who should be happy to sell 2,000,000 books for 200,000 dollars than 200,000 books for 2,000,000 dollars. The joy of writing should be counted based on your number of readers and not the money in your bank account" . something like that. He is rare. The fight for protection is not strictly a Nigerian problem but I think considering how poor people are and how much these entertainers make from shows, piracy should be seen as giving back just as Paulo observes. Thought the article about making less money was a rumour. Now I believe it

The Author is a good business man.
1. The pirated copies weren't sold within his real market environment. So he might not have gotten the gains considering it's far away in India even if the real copies were sold there.

2. This is good publicity for him, every author is honoured to know that their work has gone further than their eyes can see. So good call. People in India are reading him.

Either poverty has completely destroyed your thought process or you don't fully understand what the true meaning of piracy and it's impact. I wonder how you'd feel when you spend years thinking up an idea, spending millions to develop it, and someone else is reaping from your efforts without paying you any of it's proceeds. Before you think about this, take out poverty from the equation. Now think. Smh.

Truth is, it might not even be a pirated copy. Someone may have bought a copy and given it out for resell in India. Not all are pirated versions just that it is not an authorized version sale.

Why should they not cry? Is it OK for people to work hard and put intellectual property together, Plus all money spent on production and others, but before they start eating the fruit of their labor, some Alaba boys are already selling thousands of copy, Is that Okay? Do you pray that you work-hard all day and night and others eat the fruit of your labor?

The kid will obviously not know the implication of what he is doing ... but how about all those BIG thieves who've made millions from other people's intellectual property, while the producers are still struggling... Isn't that one of the reasons there's so much low quality Nolly wood productions, because you know that these people will not allow you to enjoy your labor? Hollywood will always declare Billions of profits and most of their stars are Millionaires because their system is right . --> PEOPLE SHOULD STOP APPLAUDING EVIL, IF WE WOULD MOVE FORWARD

i am not a praying man but I will pray for you guys supporting piracy in one way or the other. May you work hard for many months: have headache and sleepless nights, toil hard and down cups of coffee just so you can write a book or produce a movie and have pirates reap the rewards of your labour.

This should not be encouraged in any way. it takes years to write a book. from the moment the idea comes to you till the moment you write the last words. One should get every deserved rewards, every penny. Whosoever reaps from it illegally should be castrated

That is what they always say!

This author can talk like this because he has "arrived" and his royalty won't
be adversely affected by the piracy.

If he was a upcoming author who managed to put a good piece together, he
will have a different view and he won't show much understanding for the pirates.

He's old now. He's made his money and broken even since. Plus it's in India with loose Anti-piracy laws unlike developed countries. Trust me in his prime he would have chased after the young kid like every other artist does. It's called intellectual property, and should not be abused or stolen.
