Why We Had Student Union Activist Arrested- UNILAG by CyberTerkz(m): 11:08am On Sep 25, 2016
Femi Adeyeye, a student of Unilag was arrested a couple of days ago when he came on campus for meeting with other fellow student union activists.
He had earlier been rusticated for remarks he made about the school management of social media website Facebook.
The management of the University explained why they had him arrested in a statement by Unilag’s Deputy Registrar (Information) Toyin Adebule.

The statement read; “Our attention was drawn to the recent arrest of Mr. Olorunfemi Adeyeye, who in spite of the regulations governing the conduct of rusticated students, organised a group of boys to cause commotion at the university’s gate. His subsequent arrest along with other non-students of the university (two of whom are serving youth corps members) was unconnected with any protest.

“It was a consequence of his desperate attempt to attract cheap publicity, unearned public sympathy and continuously bring the name of the university into disrepute. It should be reiterated that the earlier misdemeanour of Mr. Adeyeye attracted expulsion. The university Senate in tempering justice with mercy handed him a four-semester rustication. His recent conduct will do him no good,”

Adebule said further that the comments made by Adeyeye were unsubstantiated and insulting and a breach of the ‘Social Misconducts and Penalties Regulations of University of Lagos. (UNILAG)
He said; “He avers that the first class honours degree in Chemical Engineering obtained by the Vice Chancellor in 1974 from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) is a waste. Our university is committed to awarding its certificates not only for learning but for character as well.
“Over 7, 000 degree and diploma certificates duly signed by the vice-chancellor and registrar of the university are awarded every year. It is, therefore, surprising, that someone expecting to receive one of such certificates would cast aspersions on the entire learning processes and academic integrity of the university,”

that's not an excuse to rusticate the student in the first place. He only aired his opinion for christ sake, the least you guys could have done was rebuffing or countering his outburst or statement with facts but you rather expelled him... it shows you guys are autocratic!
