Nigeria's militant Islamist group Boko Haram has hoisted its flag in three villages in the north-east after over-running them yesterday, a security source has said.

The militants slaughtered at least eight people, including a village elder, during the attack, the security source and residents said.

The villages - Kubirivour, Boftari and Kuburmbalah - are near Chibok town, from where the militants captured more than 200 schoolgirls in 2014.

Others sources said the militants were still in control of Malam Fatori town, on the Nigeria-Niger border.

Last Sunday, Nigerian troops recaptured the town from the jihadists. However, the militants reinforced their ranks and regained control of the town.

We are not getting correct information from the Nigeria Army on their progress in the war against terrorists. This is a great disservice to our gallant soldiers risking their lives in the battle field and millions of Nigerians praying for their success.
Unfortunately our Newspapers and Media has been bought over by APC propaganda machines. It is a shame that we now have to look up to foreign press to give us correct information on things happening in our country!

Easy for any terrorist with a gun to kill villagers and hoist a flag, this is not capturing of territory.
Will the terrorists still be there by the time our troops get to the said villages?

In fact the troops should have every town in the region covered. Hope they do not alter their strategy as these reports from the BBC may be aimed at helping the terrorists by distracting our troops.
