Igbo movement is because of their industriousness, their desire to change things, but normal Yoruba man is lazy, they are always scared of moving out of their comfort zone unlike d Igbo man!

And what have they changed in their barren erosion-ravaged homeland? For ibos, charity begins in another man's homeland.

Is this not the truth?

How can the yorubas put their destiny of being in Nigeria or not on the action taken by Igbos?
The reason why Awo made that statement was because he was aware that the Constitution of Nigeria gives no room for secession.
If you'll remember, the Awo-led AG demanded for this right to be included in the Constitution during the 1954 Constitutional Conference;but this request was turned down by the North,East, and the Colonial Secretary.

Awo, being a legal luminary, had wanted to see how the East could have successfully seceded, bloodlessly and legally, since the Constitution does not provide for such.

If the secession had been successful under those conditions,he had intended to toe the same path for the SW too.

This doesn't mean he was waiting for the East to secede first;rather,it shows that he wanted to see how the East would have seceded legally - since the Constitution does not permit it - before following suit.

That statement effectively placed yorubas beneath Igbos forever in all ramification. It's a statement that will haunt yoruba future generation forever.

It means that for yorubas to make any headway in life, they must look and emulate Igbos.

Keep on dreaming, we don't care about that statement. It changes nothing to average Yoruba man,it is northerns that heeds to the words of their leader,we no send anybody here in Yoruba Land.If truely awo made such statement, it is a PURE TABOO....

NO be the same awolowo that played a key role in civil war??

This statement might be bitter but the truth. Let face it IF THE IGBO/BIAFFRA SHOULD LEAVE, I SWEAR BETWEEN GOD AND MAN, YORUBA WILL LEAVE TOO. YORUBA CAN NEVER EVER STAY WITH HAUSA-FULANI ALONE...NEVER!

Desire to change things? In another man's land while Igboland remain this way? My brother what are you changing in Kaduna, Warri, Abuja and Lagos megacity? Abeg come home to your fatherland and change Igboland first.

Obafemi Awolowo said that if the Igbos should secede the Yorubas would follow suit.

This got me thinking recently.

So the destiny of the Yorubas having their own country depends on weather the Igbos remained in Nigeria or left?

Awolowo's statement clearly meant that the destiny of the Yorubas lie in the hands of the Igbos.

No wonder Yorubas are found running around any thread involving Igbos and self determination.

Your ignorance is embarrassing. That is how people will be going around with half baked knowledge gotten from half baked education and be dabbling in matters way beyond their grasp.

Awolowo's true words: if the Igbos are ALLOWED to secede, the Yorubas will not remain in Nigeria.

Compare that with what your parents and grand parents who lost a war have twisted for all of you.

Thank God for the leadership of the late Sage. Millions of Yoruba people would have also died in that useless and needless war.

The seat of the Federal government was in Dodan barracks in Lagos, a Yoruba enclave. There was no way a leader with sense would instigate a war that would be fought on his own land among his own people.

Now do you see the difference between great leadership and stupidity?
