EFCC Arrests APC Chieftain Over N36m Land Scam by agwom(m): 7:03am On Oct 01, 2016
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Benjamin Benedict Apugo at his village, Nkata Ibeku, in Abia State.
A statement from EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said his arrest yesterday was sequel to a 4 July, 2016 warrant issued to that effect by a Federal High Court in Umuahia presided over by Justice D.E. Osiagor after the accused failed to appear before the court to take his plea on a three-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretense brought against him by the EFCC.

Uwujaren added that he was alleged to have fraudulently sold six plots of land valued at N36 million belonging to the Nigeria Railway Corporation located at Umunwulari Nkata Ibeku layout, Planning Scheme Umuahia.
He said a previous warrant was issued for the arrest of the defendant on 8th October,2015 by Justice F.A. Olubanjo after he had failed to appear before the court on same charge.
Immigration recruitment scam: Parradang clears Perm Sec, Director of complicity
Adelanwa Bamgboye
A former Comptroller-General of Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Parradang, has cleared both former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Anastasia Nwobia and a Deputy Director in the same ministry, Mr. F.O. Alayabami from having a hand in the 2014 N676 million immigration scam.
Parradang is a prosecution witness during the resumed trial in the suit filed by the federal Government against the former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro and four others.
He told the court under cross-examination that both Mrs. Nwobia and Mr. Alayabami, neither attended meetings nor had their names or signature in the recruitment contract.
While answering questions put across to him by Chief Chris Uche (SAN) and Frank Ikpe, representing the second and third defendants, respectively, the witness also admitted that the Nwobia was posted out of the ministry about three months before the commencement of the exercise.
Specifically, when asked by Uche that the Permanent Secretary was transferred to a different ministry about three months before the incident, the witness replied: “Now I know. If she left in July, I agree that she had left the ministry before the implementation began.”
