For Nigeria and Nigerians (especially Nairalanders ) SHOWERS OF FREEDOM Rain on me, refresh my troubled spirit. The days have been long, the journey has been arduous. Quench my thirst, I long for you. They told us we'll be free, they showed us a future we couldn't see. Now the future's past, still we wait; We press on Towards a future unknown. Rain on us, quicken our spirits. Rain on us, wash away our tears Of years long gone. Wash away the sweat From long days in the sun. We cup our hands to you, fill them. We raise our eyes to you, cleanse them. That our sight may be unblurred, That we may see a new vision. Rain on us. Drench us and seep into our souls. Melt the shackles that constrain our minds, melt the bonds that halt our progress. Sweep away the thorns that cross our path. Stir up the tide of change that hurls us to our envisioned destiny of total freedom. Because we waited, because we persevered... Independence rain, showers of freedom, We command you to pour! Soak up the buried seeds of our forbears! Let them sprout in victory that we may shelter in their shades! Let them bear fruit for our progeny as a monument to us! Independence rain, Freedom's showers; Quench our thirst, we long for you. Happy 56th Independence Anniversary! 11 Likes 2 Shares

Nigeria increasingly becoming a mirage to the youths of the Nation. The leaders of yesterday still holding to today's prospects, only to hand over tomorrow to their Children. The poor, talented and capable hands of the Nation without background have continue to beg in their fatherland. May posterity's judge and Judge CME to the aid of the Nation. |
