Governor Willie Obiano has assured the people of the state that his government would always place priority to the welfare of workers, physically challenged and other citizens in the state.
The Governor restated this yesterday,
when the traditional Prime Ministers ,otherswise known as "Onowo" from 179 communities visited him at the Governor's Lodge Amawbia.
Governor Obiano re-announced that all the physically challenged in the state would gain automatic employment so as to reduce the burden of their parents and wards.
He maintained that the internally generated revenue of the state prior to his inception was below N500 million, but had currently recorded tremendous increase of N 1.3 billion which had enabled him in piloting the affairs of the State,
especially now the country's economy is combustible.
He stressed that he was able to increase the IGR through many avenues,
including the discovery of over 820 ghost workers cutting across various ministries, who were under government payroll.
The governor who regretted the economic stance in the country
bemoaned that the present dollar rates to Naira had affected the rate of transaction and crippled the inflow of currency in the country.
He warned those who contravene his order stipulated in his stimulus package,
such as non collection of wheelbarrow tax, emblem among others to desist from
such as his government would not relent to bring to book,
any offender, adding that teachers in public schools should suspend collection of any levies from the pupils and students respectively.
He however charged the people to heavily invest in agriculture and engage in cultivation of micro or macro production as a means to cushion the effects of economic recession.
In his speech,, the Commissioner for Local government and Chieftancy matters,
Mr Greg Obi said the governor runs all-inclusive government and respects traditional institution which is the pride of igbos.
In their address, the secretary of "Ndi Onowo Title Holders' Association of Nigeria " Chief Ezechukwu Joe Nwegwe expressed gratitude
to the governor for allocating a parcel of Land at Hill Top Neighbourhood, New Town Layout,
Awka for building of their secretariat and leisure facilities for common good of the people.
Chief Nwegwe also commended the governor for his giant strides in developing the state
and prompt payment of workers salaries among various unprecedented achievements which rates the state higher among other states.
The highlight was presentation of traditional portrait to the governor as a symbol of traditional honor.

I trust my Governor, he never disappoints. Where in Awka is Hill top neighborhood in New Town layout located, Awka residents help out. Never heard of such a place before, Awka would be unrecognizable in the next 5 years
