Omeny: Ogiso dynasty is dead forever! It has been replaced by a more vibrant oba system courtesy of ile-ife. History is not on your side, a stranger of strange tongue will end up being sacrificed to the gods not welcomed. When the ogiso system become useless and civil war was looming, the Benin chiefs had to call on their civilized neighbour , in ile-ife to come to their aid. Benin people begged and begged before the last born( the least favored prince) oranmiyan, was allowed to go stabilize the Benin kingdom, he eventually left the throne to his son who civilized the Benin empire based on the Ife system, this is the sacred truth that the ancient Obas of benin knew but the modern are too ashamed to admit. 1 Like |

Ubenedictus: Yes , he was the least favored in ife throne hierachy, he wasn't pursued, he left Benin after determining that the kingdom does not worth his time and status giving the in unseriousness of the ruling chiefs. |

Ubenedictus: will the coronation still be traditional valid without the Ekiokpagha treaty? How will Oba of Benin claim sovereignty without Ogiamien selling it to him? |
Re: Oba Of Benin, Erediauwa's Coronation Program by Ubenedictus(m): 7:04pm On Oct 08, 2016 |
macof:the oba has sovereignty, with or without the treaty, the treaty was to prevent futher bloodshed between family member. besides the treaty didnt hold in d last coronation, the battle was re-enacted but the traditional payment wasn't given. the ogiamwen lost to eweka, the treaty is simply a declaration of no victor, no vanguished, that is y d items of payment isnt much. since there is no ogiamwen in utantan, a representative of d family will participate in d ritual with the ediaken. that satisfies the ritual requirement. |
Re: Oba Of Benin, Erediauwa's Coronation Program by Ubenedictus(m): 7:21pm On Oct 08, 2016 |
latsy:Actualy he was pursued from benin, he never entered the city, his palace was in d outskirts of d city with d uzama. oramiyan wasnt granted access to benin because his distant cousin, d ogiamwen, had taken over d arms of government, military and finance. Oramiyan saw he was at a disadvantage, so he tuck his tail and ran away leaving a pregnant woman and shouting 'ile ibinu', he ran away so that his unborn son was left with the problems oramiyan couldnt fix. With d help of d chiefs eweka won (they did a good job) and oramiyan ran back to his old father to cry, requesting for power, he couldnt wait for oduduwa to die so he was granted d right to collect revenue from his brothers, that is how he bcame alafin in oyo after runing away from benin. He was favoured. |

Ubenedictus: look how he's talking like he knows shiit about Oranmiyan |
Re: Oba Of Benin, Erediauwa's Coronation Program by latsy: 7:17pm On Oct 09, 2016 |
Ubenedictus: Look at it this way, Benin chiefs treked a long distance to go beg Ile-ife to save them from implosion, if the ogiamen had already stabilized the kingdom, why would the chiefs go to ile-ife to ask for help ? After much pleading and begging by the Benin chiefs oduduwa allowed oranmiyan to go with them but on seeing that they are unserious fellow who can't be trusted he left Benin to pursue a more worthy cause. One would have thought that with the departure of oranmiyan, the treacherous chiefs would find it easy holding on to the throne. Unfortunately, they couldn't , a vulnerable eweka successfully subjugated them. One thing is certain , the Oba that you guys worship is not a descendant of the Benin kingdom, he is a grandson of ile-ife, if you guys are serious about removing the shame attached to being ruled by a foreigner, you will stop the primogeniture right to the throne, unfortunately, you can't because Eweka has instilled an eternal insurmountable fear on your chiefs. |
Re: Oba Of Benin, Erediauwa's Coronation Program by Ubenedictus(m): 9:57am On Oct 12, 2016 |
latsy:u are trying to rewrite history with ur lies. the reason d chief went to ife was because only d child of d late king can rule in his father's throne and oduduwa was d son of d ogiso. ofcuz eweka never entered bini cos b couldnt beat his distant cousin d ogiso and ran away. eweka couldnt subjugate d chiefs, dat only happend centuries later. |
Re: Oba Of Benin, Erediauwa's Coronation Program by latsy: 1:35pm On Oct 12, 2016 |
Ubenedictus: Oduduwa was never related to the Ogiso, he is a thoroughbred ile-ife man. Never believe what your modern are telling you, they are only trying to save face. It speaks of the ogiso dynasty's power if a defenseless Yoruba toddler(Eweka) was able to overpower ogiso chiefs and installed himself and his descendants as the permanent oba in Benin kingdom. What do you have to say about a man who ran away according you but was still able to change the name of your kingdom to Benin ? And his son was able to single handedly destroy the ogiso's dynasty. Imagine a mere human defeating erasing the memory of ogiso(a supposed sky god) |
