South African photographer Gideon Mendel has won the Green Peace photo 2016 Jury award for his project called #drowningworld. Gideon took several pictures from a water flooded village called Igbogene located in Southern Nigeria. Apparently, the village was suffering from flooding at that time; Gideon was able to describe the struggles of indigenes in pictures. According to him, this award will help him make more flood response trips and develop the project. Gideon Mendel is a photographer whose works engages with contemporary social issues of global concerns. Mendel has a career spanning over 30 years.
