I knew I would save Angels – Oluehi
Published March 10, 2018
Rivers Angels captain Tochukwu Oluehi says she was confident of saving her side during the ensuing penalty shootout at the maiden Nigeria Women ’ s Football League Champions Shield on Sunday.
Aiteo Cup champions Angels defeated league winners Nasarawa Amazons 4 - 3 on penalties after regulation time ended 1 - 1 at the Agege Stadium , Lagos , and it was goalkeeper Oluehi who emerged as the heroine after she saved two penalties to help the Port Harcourt side to a historic win .
Oluehi dived to her left to save Amazons’ third and fifth kicks to send her teammates into rapturous celebrations inside the Soccer Temple .
“ I ’ m excited and happy because it wasn ’ t an easy game . Nasarawa won the league but we worked very hard for this victory and I ’ m so excited , ” she said .
But the Falcons number one said she was prepared for the task when regulation ended in a stalemate .
Oluehi said , “ Penalties is a game of luck ; I try to work on penalties in training . So, I knew if my teammates could convert their kicks , I would save one or two and that ’ s what happened . I did it in Jos; through penalties I have saved my team severally.
“ This is just s stepping stone ahead of the new season . All the other clubs want to beat Rivers Angels , so we have to work hard and keep on winning. We want to win the league and the cup double next season , so we are not relaxing . ”

PDPGuy:

The quarter final will neither vs USA or Japan. Either game will be tough indeed.

I will prefer USA then grin the Japanese are unbeatable at this level

Don't u think the 15 years old girl will be too young and inexperienced
Schemerkhiz:
I think we should be avoiding the Japanese not the USA side, because we would beat them down. The Japanese side are more technical and aggressive.

Joy Bokiri should also join the Falconets team, because her presence in the Midfield would be a plus for us..
My 6 Midfielders for the tournament are
1. Christy Ucheibe 18yrs (Nasarawa Amazons)
2. Folashade Ijamilusi 17yrs (From Academy club)
3. Bashirat Amoo 15yrs (Confluence Queens)
4. Peace Efih 17yrs (Edo Queens)
5. Adebisi Saheed 18yrs (Delta Queens)
6. Joy Bokiri 19yrs Sporting de Huelva (Spain)

If we scale through the quarter final hurdle I don't think any team can stop us again

She is currently the youngest among them all,and she spot the number 11 jersey,

I think Bashirat Amoo is currently playing the position of Joy Bokiri and her return will take her to the bench because joy Bokiri is stronger and experienced though the 15yrs Amoo can't be left out of the team because she played in all the qualifying games the Falconets played not even as a substitute but a regular starter.

Do you know much about that Adebisi Saheed, is she instrumental in that midfield?

Age shouldn't count against Bashirat Amoo, she is a regular player at Confluence Queens, she is another Halimatu Ayinde, to me her work rate are top notch
Even when the Flamingoes (U17) were about to crash out of the World Cup qualifiers to Cameroon, she along side Monday Gift, Chinyere Igboamalu were brought to the U17 team to help them out.

Amerat Adebisi Saheed who was at the last Edition of the U20 world Cup but only played against Japan but was substituted at the start of the 2nd half , is a modern day number 10 that a serious team should have in their ranks, she is a Freekicks specialist, she plays behind the strikers the way Sonia Ngozi Okobi plays for her Club side Delta Queens.
All the departments of the Superfalconet from Goalkeeping to Attack are balanced our only problem is their preparation
And the coach should also try and bring in 1 natural Center Back.

Of course not, I'm just saying the tournament has no easy group if you look closely, and in comparison to North Korea and Japan, China is easier to play against and to beat.

Individually, falconets are good to go. However, I fear the NFF will sabotage them so much that they will exit after group stage. As someone who studiously follow NFF and our female teams, I am almost sure of how things will play out.

Camping will be local, with the players being psychologically battered before the tournament. Friendly games will be against Ghana or some lesser teams, heck even some boys U17 teams in Kubwa or Garki.
The arrangements for camps in France will be shoddy, perhaps the flight will first take the girls to Ethiopia before heading to Paris, with the girls wasting hours at airports. Some luggages may go missing, with some girls having to borrow underwear in France.
We lose our first game, win 2nd and draw 3rd. NFF quickly comes out to take the moral stand and ask the girls to apologise to Nigerians like the hapless U17 were made to do.

Anam Imo is a pacy forward, strong on the ball, a good dribbler, she is a good team player. She is learning and developing fast to becoming one of the best center Forward in the NWFL. Blessed with good shots and wonderful ball control.
Though she is sometimes indecisive in front of goal. She really needs to be a good finisher like Ajibade.

Watch out for
Monday Gift 16yrs old Fc Robo Left Footed striker
Monday - Imo - Ajibade
currently my favorite combination upfront for the Superfalconet.

Sure she will improve we already have two strikers at the Left Wing ( Monday Gift and Chinyere Igboamalu), two also at the center Forward Position (Anam Imo and charity Reuben).. While Rasheedat Ajibade is alone at the Right Wing..I hope coach Danjuma brings in other strikers for stiffer Competition for Shirt.

Chioma Wogu, Rafiat Sule, Cynthia Aku are other options

Steffi Jones sacked as Germany Women’s head coach
March 13, 2018 in News

Steffi Jones sacked as Germany Women’s head coach.

The German Football Association (DFB) has today announced it has relieved Germany Women’s head coach Steffi Jones of her duties with immediate effect.

The board reached the decision today following a telephone conference and advice from team co-ordinator Oliver Bierhoff and sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou.

Horst Hrubesch will take over on an interim basis for the upcoming games in April against the Czech Republic and Slovenia. He will be assisted by Ulrike Ballweg and Thomas Nörenberg. Horst Hrubesch was previously coach of the men’s U21 led the Olympic team to Silver at the Rio 2016 Games.

Steffi Jones most recently led her side at the 2018 SheBelieves Cup in which Germany finished in fourth place behind France, England and USA.

At the UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 Championship, Germany were knocked out by Denmark in the quarter-final stage.

SWEDISH CUP: Chikwelu, Ohale score as Okobi storms to semis
By JWsports1 - March 13, 2018
Ngozi Okobi remained the sole African standing in the Swedish Cup as Eskilstuna advanced to the semifinals over the weekend.

Okobi’s Eskilstuna were first to claim a semifinals slot following a 2–0 win over Temwa Chawinga’s Kvarnsveden on Saturday.

Cornelia Ellefors’ belter in the 32nd minute and Felicia Karlsson’s stunner in the 53rd sealed the win as Temwa failed to score for the first time in the 2018 Cup race.

Eskilstuna stormed to the semifinals as Group 3 winners on nine points, three ahead of the group’s runner-up Kvarnsveden.

Meanwhile, Okobi’s compatriot Rita Chikwelu almost fired Kristianstad past holders Rosengård, netting a brace in a narrow 3–2 defeat.

Chikwelu drew Kristianstad level twice but Sanne Troelsgaard slammed home the winner with 20 minutes on the clock.

The holders thus finish top of Group 2 on nine points, five ahead of second-placed Kristianstad who crash out of the title race.

Both Chikwelu and fellow Nigerian Ogonna Chukwudi featured the whole match for Kristianstad on Sunday.

The duo’s compatriot Osinachi Ohale was on target over the weekend as well, netting Vittsjö’s fourth in an 8–0 hammering of Qviding.

Vittsjö finish third in Group 2, tied on four points with Kristianstad, despite the emphatic win.

The two sides drew in the Swedish Cup opener, hammered Qviding but failed to get past Rosengård.

Faith Ikidi’s Piteå were also bundled out after drawing one-all with Djurgården in their last group match.

Ikidi, returning from an arm injury, started on the bench in the draw that sent Djurgården to the semi-finals.

Djurgården finish top of Group 4 on seven points, two ahead of runner-up Piteå.

Group 1 was a much feister affair as reigning Swedish Champions Linköping came from behind to force a 1–1 draw with Göteborg.

The draw meant the two sides finished tied on seven points and a plus-eight goal difference.

Therefore, ranking became the deciding factor, propelling Linköping to the semifinals.

The 2018 edition of the Svenska Cupen is the first where the group play was incorporated.

It featurd 16 teams: four from the second tier league (Elitettan), two from the third tier and the rest from the topflight league (Damallsvenskan).

Eskilstuna, Rosengård, Linköping and Djurgården finish top of their respective groups thus advance to the semi-finals.

The cup final will be decided on 13 May with the champion walking away with a cash prize of SEK 150,000 (approx. USD 18283.50).

Svenska Cupen semifinals

17 March: Eskilstuna United v Linköping

18 March: Rosengård v Djurgården

Nigeria vs France: Courtney Dike set for Falcons call up
Fisayo DairoFisayo Dairo March 15, 2018 Football,
USA-born former Falconets forward Courtney Ozioma Dike is set to earn her first invite to Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Falcons in three years as the team prepare to face France in an international friendly next month.

Courtney, a younger sibling of Nigerian international Bright was the toast of many at the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada where she scored twice in Nigeria’s run to the final of the tournament where they lost in extra time to Germany.

She would go ahead to feature for the senior team at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup but has not been invited to the team since the end of the Canada tournament.

However, www.aclsports.com has scooped that Super Falcons’ new technical adviser Thomas Dennerby is looking at the direction of many of the foreign-born players and the names of Dike and Iniabasi Umotong have been pencilled down for invite for April’s fixture.

The Swede is also set to recall many among the Super Falcons stars who won the 2016 Women’s AFCON in Cameroon while also rewarding some of the youngsters who distinguished themselves at the recent West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup tournament in Abidjan, Coted’voire.

Nigeria face hosts France in a top of the pile friendly in Mans, France on April 6 as they prepare for the qualification series for 2018 Women’s AFCON.

If you know NFF under Amaju Pinnick, you will know that it is all propaganda and less substance. The friendly is about 2 weeks from today, no team, logistics probably not done yet. Visas will be fast tracked for home based players? Flights booked?
My opinion is that NFF will use foreign based players and ask them to pay their flights to France. They will then owe the girls this money for another 6 months.

SPAIN: Boho, Makore, Bokiri star against league leaders
By JWsports1 - March 21, 2018163

Jade Boho, Rutendo Makore and Joy Bokiri highlighted the weekend that was for the Africans in the Spainish topflight league, forcing draws against title favourites.

Equatorial Guinean Jade Boho got the weekend going with a brace for Madrid CFF in a 2–2 draw against holders Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

Aurélie Kaci’s seventh-minute sublime finish opened the scoring for the hosts in the Madrid derby staged at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Two minutes later, Boho finished off budding Morocco-born midfielder Yasmin Mrabet’s long-range effort to restore parity.

Atletico took the lead again in the 17th minute courtesy of Marta Corredera’s strike.

But Boho gladly responded in kind, netting her ninth of the season in the 36th minute.

The mouthwatering derby pulled a viewership of 285,000, peaking to 474,000 by the end of the match—the biggest viewership in the league’s history.

It also drew a crowd of 22,202, the fifth highest in Spain over the weekend across both the men’s and women’s leagues (match highlights: video below).

Following Atletico’s dropping of points, Barcelona had the chance to go top when they faced Sporting Huelva on Sunday.

But the giant slayer Rutendo Makore would have none of it, netting the opener three minutes after the break in a one-all draw.

The goal was Makore’s third of the season after her brace against Atletico who now remain top on 56 points, a point ahead of Barcelona.

The match also saw budding Nigerian midfielder Joy Bokiri mark her second successive start for Sporting Huelva.

For their stunning performance against the league leaders, the African trio of Boho, Makore and Bokiri made the league’s matchday 23 team of the week.
