The Art of Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a conscious action taken by a person to forget the hurt inflicted on him or her by another person or persons. This act of forgetting entails treating the person who has offended as though the offence never took. It means restoration to former situation. This includes restoration of friendships, fellowships, relationships etc. It is not emotional. It is an act of our will. Those who don't forgive consciously decide not to forgive (Acts 7:57-60; Luke 23:34).

Our Lord Jesus Christ teaches to forgive as often as we are hurt (Matthew 18:21; Luke 17:4). Believers are admonished to forgive others as often as they ask for forgiveness and repent. Even when they are remorseful, we are still expected to make peace with them (Matthew 5:9; Matthew 5:23-24; Romans 12:18-21; Hebrews 12:14).

Our ability to forgive is never based on our competency, but it is based on the extent of yielding to the Holy Spirit and on the grace made available to us by God (Luke 17:4; Romans 5:5)

When we forgive God forgives us (Matthew 6:12; Ephesians 4:32). Let us look at the parable of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18:21-35.

Why people find it difficult to forgive
i. Pride – this is when the person offended feels superior to the person who offended him or her. It could also be vice-versa.
ii. Hatred for offender - we see this in Esau and Jacob, where the hatred of Esau for Jacob extended to their generations years after Esau and Jacob had died (Genesis 27:41; Numbers 20:20-21; Obadiah 10-14,18; Amos 1:11; Malachi 1:4)
iii. Hard heartedness – Matthew 13:15; Acts 28:27; Romans 2:5
iv. Carnality – 1 Corinthians 3:3; 6:5-8; James 4:1
v. Envy and Strife – James 3:16; 4:5; 1 Corinthians 1:1
vi. Lack of love – John 13:34-35; 1 John 2:9-11; 1 John 3:14-18; 1 John 4:20

Conclusion
We do God's will when we forgive (Matthew 6:10). Through this we provide a platform for God's blessings upon our lives. Through our actions people who don't know our God will come seeking for Him (Matthew 5:16). Christ Jesus teaches us on how to reconcile with a brother or sister who has offended or who we have offended (Matthew 18:15-17). We have to behave like children in malice (1 Corinthians 14:20). For us to inherit the kingdom of God we have to be like children (Matthew 18:1-4).

God bless you.

But i don't understand the concept in Christianity that said God forgive with the dead of Christ his only son. With his blood or their is different kind of forgiveness
