The Nigerian Army on Wednesday has confirmed that some of its soldiers who were attacked in the border town of Gashigar in Borno, had returned according to a senior military officer but LeadersNG made series of checks and spoke to 3 Second Lieutenants who said none of the missing soldiers have been found or returned. All the officers said that their ogas were lying to those in Abuja about the war.

They also complained about lack of weapons to effectively fight Boko Haram. The junior officers said Boko Haram terrorists more equipped and are waxing stronger each day.

All the 3 junior officers who spoke to LeadersNG said “The Theatre Commander is lying, none of the soldiers have returned. They want pressure on them from Abuja to reduce. If the officers missing have been found, where are they? We want to see them”.

The Theater Commander had said while briefing newsmen that “It is true that about 39 soldiers were declared missing.
“I want to inform you that a sizeable number of our soldiers had returned to base.

“I think it is only a handful that have not been found,” Irabor said.

LeadersNG also spoke to a Lieutenant Colonel who corroborated the storyline of the junior officers saying none of the missing officers have been found, that it was just a political statement to douse public outcry. He said the military high command was worried about the new perception that the army was becoming powerless which is why he believes they said the missing soldiers have returned.
