Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has attributed the re-appearance of high profile attacks in Nigeria’s Northeast to the support that the Boko Haram terrorists get from some individuals.

The Army Chief emphasized an urgent need for a renewed local and international support to end terrorism in the country and globally.

He made the remarks at the sideline of a meeting with a security delegation from the Atlantic Council, African Centre in the United States of America.

“We have some elements who are within this society and are still supporting them clandestinely.

“So the support of every Nigerian is very key to the end of this terrorism,” he stated.

General Buratai noted that the role of the Nigerian Army in prosecuting the counter-terrorism crusade in the northeast has been misinterpreted by some people.

Moles within the military hierarchy...OED.?

Then it's likely the seven soldiers killed is a result of insiders giving info to BH.

Of course! It is no longer the supernatural power of Mr President and crew to totally combat terrorism, the first of its kind worldwide. Now they deal with the reality of attacks which aren't technically restricted to soft targets...stupid people, wicked thieves!

That was the most stupid statement from the military and I wonder if it was intended to spike recent attacks by BH cos even a novice ought to know that it will make those terrorists regroup and continue in their attacks to prove they haven't been defeated.

Is it only d terrorists? Such statement is even a diplomatic gaffe to the face of other nations fighting terrorism so external interventions may well be ramped up just to smack d silly NA down for its insensitivity

Such ambigous statement...of course the recent attacks by bh is not unconnected to the recent release of some of its commanders by the gov't, in the chibok girls swap deal.
It was predicted by security analystist.

no army can cope with hit and run tactics... not even the USA.. you can't claim power over Niger delta and Boko Haram without solving why they fight... nothing wrong in having Islamic State... nothing wrong in having deltans controlling their oil... unless if you want your army men to keep diein and Nigeria to collapse one day..Boko Haram will continue until there is Islamic nation .militants will continue until they control their God given oil ... if you don't like this hang your self

So the government should kowtow to just anybody long as they take up arms?

Smart thinking.

[size=13pt]Soon, they will blame Burkina Faso or Cameroon for the "secret help" of Boko Haram.

Or even better still, blame Allah for accepting their prayers.

Buruntashi do your job and stop making up silly excuses

When GEJ said that BH are within his cabinet some people insinuated that he was the BH himself. Today the chief of Army staff is almost saying the same thing

In spite of what the post above the one above states, one of Nigeria's greatest weaknesses as a Nation is the penchant for pointing the finger at one another. Four months ago or longer, I recall mentioning that Nigeria should watch out when France began stationing UAV's in Cameroon. I recall mentioning that the UAV's would be watching Nigeria troop movements as much as anything else. The French are never to be trusted.

[size=13pt]Very soon, it will be the French importing Janjaweeed from Kenya to fight Nigeria.

Lol... you guys are sick! When will you guys tell the truth that sending all the troops to Niger Delta to fight the elusive militants has dangerously depleted the number of Nigeria soldiers fighting Boko Haram in the northeast?

Crocodile tears!

When the funds for weapons that they would have used to stop the riffraffs were shared then

...today, we are crying, cry for yourselves!

Cry for a blood sucking nation!

Cry a nation without justice... people without conscience, without shame..

... how can it be said that those things they show us all the time, killed a Nigerian soldier?!

They have killed several actually...

Let us not just cry, let us weep and wail. Bring down our flag...and mourn until we find our bearing!
