One beauty of it all is that people who these five traditional rulers lead share common value systems.

They are fit to form one country; a country different from the country or countries of people from the southeast and southsouth regions;

peoples in southeast and southsouth regions don't share value systems of peoples in the north and southwest of today's Nigeria.

Common value systems are the bedrock of nationhood. Without common value systems among a population, forming a nation from a country is impossible. That is why Nigeria failed.

Ooni is second in Nigeria, he is the co-chairman with southern of sokoto the president of traditional rulers in Nigeria. get your fact straight. not even the vice chairman, but co-chairman, they are on the same level

A few years ago, a Yoruba suggested that the Sultan of Sokoto be renamed the Sultan of Nigeria.

In other words, Nigeria as a Sultanate, no more a Republic.

This is why it is agreed that whatever the religious faith of an average Yoruba, he/she can easily share one country with northern Nigerians due to common value systems between the two groups.

But a citizen from the southsouth or southeast can't dream or accept a Nigeria Sultanate.

That's a personal opinion. The people ahead of the Ooni deserve to be there. We all know there's no traditional ruler as powerful as the Sultan as he also doubles as the head of the Muslim community in Nigeria. The Emir is also very powerful in the north and is highly revered throughout the country. The Oba of benin is arguable the most powerful traditional ruler in the south and then the Ooni before the Alaafin. We're all entitled to our opinions anyways.
for ur mind u put Oba benin as 3rd ahead of ooni?...

please if you don't have fact better you keep quiet. Apart from Benin where else oba of Benin is controlling? Oni is the head of traditional rulers in yoruba land so you want to be comparing somebody controlling all the south west to just a Benin or edo state. You are a joker!

Retrograde Nigeria. Nigeria drifting backwards to ancient times under Buhari. That's why subjects like this traditional ruler thing can generate this interest, while people from advancing countries are thinking and arguing about how to build the next rocket to the moon.

In the south, Ooni is higher. Its goes as thus, Ooni, Alaafin, Oba, Alake the Awujale.
So if the Sultan comes first, I believe Ooni should be second.

@ovoko is rating his king ahead of others. Imagine him rating Emir of Kano and excluding Shehu of Borno.

Let me tell you (Ovoko), the two rated kings in the north are Sultan of Sokoto, and Shehu of Borno Kingdom. Have you forgotten Idris Alooma.

Also ranking Oba of Benin ahead of Ooni of Ife. He had forgotten history that Oba of Benin was a descendant of Oduduwa.
It seemed Ovoko was sleepy or drunk when he was collecting the information.

Later, I know u will rate Eze Ndi Igbo of Lagos Island ahead of Oba of Lagos, and Obi of Onitsha.

What are you saying? Try reason well pls. We are talking about the stool not the occupant.

if it is by occupant the list is accurate in all honesty but by stool? OONI stool Is the highest. but the last two Oonis have not represented their ancestors well enough
the influence of an Ooni goes over all yorubas by descent extending outside Nigeria to even Brazil and Cuba and everyone practicing yoruba traditional spirituality. any Oba on this planet got authorization from the Ooni for that stool to be established, or from someone else that was already authorized by the Ooni

in my own opinion the oba of benin is the most and respected traditional ruler in nigeria, the stool is not contestable unlike others where even a sitting president and governor can manipulate the system to favour their preferred candidate .
i admire the Benin people and how their oba carries himself, president, governor and even kings goes to pay homage.

before torrents of abuses escape somebody's mouth am a full fledged Ibo boy and a Nigerian, not a benin boy o.
