Can A Woman - Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Govern Nigeria? by blackfase(m): 8:46pm On Nov 18, 2016
We just had a near situation where a woman almost became the leader of the free world, for the first time in the history of mankind. There has been a handful of women running powerful countries and still do up till today. Bringing it down to our continent we've had a few in the choices of Joyce Banda and Ellen Sirleaf. Now the social media is gradually running riot with the possibilities of an Okonjo Iweala running in 2019. How possible is this? Is Nigeria ripe for a woman leadership at this time? Will the very grand complexities of a troublesome and perplexing entity like Nigeria not be too overwhelming for the opposite sex? Even men in all their machoistic glory have struggled to run and deliver on the country as expected.

Bigots and hate mongers have arrived already. Anyways, she helped OBJ & GEJ and economically their govt thrived..her CV is the best amongst equal. Trust me, that woman is not weak cos intelligent people make use of their IQ for fights not thugs or misguided law enforcement. Madam President 2019. Nigeria must be great!

I say it isn't possible, not because women don't have the necessary ability, but because Nigeria's leaders all seem to be selected from the same small clique of ex-generals and their chosen lieutenants. If you're not part of the old boys club, you need someone who is to back you and provide the (inevitably stolen) loot to fund your national campaign, pay off judges, and hire thugs to rig and intimidate on election day: how many Nigerian women are in such a position?

I love NOI, I admire her a lot BUT...

She has proven test though she may be highly effective in terms of preferring economic solutions and stuffs, she is the complete opposite with public administration responsibility. Her position as Coordinating minister was like that of a PM but under her she showed capacity but wouldn't display the political will to force herself to have her way or resign in protest.

Reason this....

She came back and built our ECA, she advised that it be saved like it was during OBJ but the Govs insisted on sharing. The FG share of all the ECA wasn't saved. She couldn't even resign in protest.

@op, your question isnt objective, it's more of promoting a candidate than trying to get a true view of the populace.
for now, no known woman in nigeria is capable to handle that office, and pls dont come with why not give a chance, no one gives you a chance to take power, you fight for it.

In Nigeria, the kind of politics we play is not for women.

op actually kinda collapsed two hot issues into one, no time for long narratives. Besides, trying to silence the "too long" gang at the same time. Object still intact...
