Glo 3g Modem Or Starcomms Modem Since Visafone Is Trashy! by ochukoccna: 6:57pm On Nov 05, 2009 |
Hello y'all. I've been following all this hype about IZAP but the best speed it gave me [on an uncle's modem] was 40-50 kbps with location been Ikeja Cantonment between the hours of 6 and 7 pm using a Huawei modem [COULD B BETA WHEN THE NETWORK LOAD IS LIGHTER]. However it dusts my current connection -a Visafone M727- which though gave me up to 70kbps about 3 months back gives about 35-40 kbps peak speed i.e. from around 11 pm till 9.30 am in Ikorodu. I want to change my provider now seeing Visa's Internet QOS has been steadily depreciating for about 2 months now. Also I saw in the newspapers they are introducing a fair usage policy of 5GB max monthly which can't pay my behind as I'm a moderately heavy downloader apart from sharing the connection with other people in the office. However I'm also daydreaming about GLO's HSPDA modem. Was told prepaid modem goes for 13,000 with a 500 per day access yet I don't know if it'll support my usage Visafone patterns [sharing and downloading] which I know Starcomms will & does support. GLO's customer care rep wasn't forthcoming on whether they charge per kilobyte and just told me the 500 is for 1 day and expires when my credit is finished. Thus can those who understand better illuminate my predicament and recommend 1 of GLO or Starcomms. Thanks! |

Thanks Lynx for the screen shots which I see is GLO's speeds varying btw 150-300 kbps though again U using a download accelerator but it still dusts Starcomms. To tell U the truth I'm leaning more toward GLO myself but don't know if their prepaid plan -500 naira daily- get download limits which I know Starcomms no get. Any info on that from you or others? |
