My attention has been drawn to the above news posted by one obiremy with www.trezzyhelm.com as the source of the news.

It will interest all to note that, that man in the picture was not the VP, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN). For the avoidance of doubt, Prof. Osinbajo was not in Akure for the APC rally. Specifically, he was at the graduation ceremony of the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos on that day. The news about the event is in the media for your perusals.

The man in the picture, alleged to be Osinbajo, was indeed Hon (Dr.) Bode Ayorinde (a.k.a Achiever). Dr. Ayorinde is a House of Reps' member representing Owo/Ose Federal constituency of Ondo State. He contested in the controversial APC gubernatorial primary and lost.

The APC rally in Ondo State was broadcast by notable television and radio houses and was reported widely by traditional media where the VP was reported to be conspicuously absent.

In this era of social media, Nairaland has to be warry of mushroom bloggers whose antics and modus operandi is lifting news from other media and social media and post them without necessary investigation. A simple Google action would have saved the blogger from this embarrassing and unprofessional act.

I employ the admin and the moderators of Nairaland to always double-check stories before moving them to the frontpage. Credibility matters and should not be traded for traffic. nairaland should not join the bandwagon of "I want to break the news first".
