I think it is amazing artistry by the baker given how striking the likeness of the cake is to a human. Major kudos to her!

Wow - that was disturbing but certainly achieved the desired effect of depicting the horrors/pain of FGM.

On the contrary, even when the artist had good intention by making the cake to portray the undesirable agony of FGM, the project backfired. The artist, although black was criticized as being a pawn in the hands of those who felt it was OK to make caricature out of the pains a black child by using such sensational imagery in a culturally delicate matter.
