There's this hypocrisy we Nigerians are very good at displaying. It is quite glaring if I must say. A man becomes an atheist he's attacked for leaving Christianity (although it's preferable since they don't cause harm to such person unlike some other ones that will go as far as killing the person). Why do we Christians fail to ask ourselves the critical questions?

What is happening to Christianity that is making people leave in droves? Is it the church, other gullible Christians or the atheist themselves? In my opinion, the church and the gullible followers are the problem. These days, it seems like churches are gatherings of show-offs led by cunning and dubious fellows. These say leaders of the church gives you reason why God will curse you if you question their authority.

A so-called man of God, who's supposed to emulate Jesus Christ and his teachings, chooses to emulate politicians and the Kings of old. A man of God will own private jets, build schools for the rich and build several other business empires while people are suffering on the streets. A so-called man of God will exalt himself above God Almighty and make it seem like he can never be questioned. Some of their members are so poor that they cant even have up to 2 square meals pa day, but yet their leaders in the church never fails to extort from them in order to open the door of a phantom wealth on them.

The same set of people who preach for world peace and prays for the country and all that stuff, won't hesitate to practice tribalism or nepotism in appointing one or two members into important roles. They put on the most expensive cloths, drive the most luxurious cars and even use bodyguards (simply showing that God is powerless). One of them foolishly brought a briefcase full of cash and sprayed the money in a wedding of his member just recently. They tell you things you should never do as a child of God but hardly abide by the teachings of the Bible. They judge you on daily basis but tells you to leave judgment for God when they're the ones involved. Some of them collect offerings and tithes like 3 or four times pa Sunday. They counsel you when you take family problems to them but can either hardly maintain a happy married life or bring up their children accordingly (most of their children are more sinful than the average atheist/pagan). They never regard poor people that is why they usually have special prayers for special givers, tithers, donors, etc.

Another problem with Christianity is the gullible followers. When under their men of god's hypnosis, some of them are so gullible that even a mad man is more sensible than they are at that point. They exalt their preachers above God himself and even when such a preacher commits a heinous act, they either tell you he's not a true pastor (if they're not members of his church) or never believe he did (if they're members if his church). The people are so gullible that men can give all they have in the form of sowing seed while women can open their legs for sexual cleansing (as long as their preacher asks them to).

I once heard of an unemployed graduate who went to his pastor to help him pray for a job. The pastor listed the amount of money he is to pay for different types of jobs: 80k for banking job, 100k for government job, 200k for oil and gas job, etc. The unemployed graduate left the pastor feeling disappointed. How can he, a jobless person, cough out such huge sums to pay for prayers. Does that simply mean that only the wealthy will inherit the kingdom? To cut the long story short, the guy paid nothing to anyone and still landed a banking job. If he had gotten the job after paying that con man, the con man would've taken the credit.

So brethren, before you blast that atheist who moved away from Christianity, ask yourself the important question: if it was the preacher's doing or your own doing as a gullible follower?
