Ondo Election: We Are Not Owing Our Men – Nigerian Police by amzee(m): 9:26am On Nov 29, 2016
Police denies reports that some of its men, who participated in the
Ondo state governorship poll,
are yet to be paid
their allowances.

- The police says
that the allowances for the officers and men
of the force that participated in the
security operations for the election are being
paid.
According to the police, those personnel who
submitted incomplete
accounts details and moribund accounts numbers were the ones
having issues, but
the problem has been rectified and they have started receiving their
money.
The Nigeria Police
Force has denied reports that some of
its men, who participated in the
Ondo state governorship election,
are yet to be paid
their allowances.

Reacting to a report
on a national daily, captioned “Breaking: Policemen on rampage in Ondo”
protesting non-
payment of their last
Saturday governorship election allowance, the Force PRO, DCP Don
Awunah said: “The
Nigeria Police Force
wishes to categorically state that the allowances for the officers and men of the force that participated in the security
operations for the
election are being
paid.“The payments were done through the
banks into the accounts numbers submitted by the personnel in
compliance with the
policy of federal government on Treasury Single
Account (TSA) to
ensure transparency
and accountability.
“The payments
commenced few
days to the election
and most of the
personnel confirmed
receipt of payment
alerts into their
accounts before the
election.

“However, those
personnel who
submitted
incomplete accounts
details and moribund
accounts numbers
have been rectified
and they have started receiving their money.”

DCP Awunah said the
report is entirely false and misleading as he urged the members of the public to disregard it
as no police man
went on rampage or
protest on the street
in Ondo town over
non-payment of the
election allowance.

He further explained
that the Deputy
Inspector General of
Police in charge of
Operations for the
election is currently in
Ondo state and has
debriefed the
personnel after the
election duties.

Recall that some
officers of the
Nigeria Police Force on
Monday morning,
November 28, took
to the streets of
Ondo to protest non-
payment of their last
Saturday
governorship election
allowance, The Punch
reports.

According to the
reports, the police
officers went haywire in Ondo town, Ondo state, protesting non-
payment of their
allowance.

It was gathered that
the policemen
protested in Fagun
street in Ondo town chanting various war songs as the development
caused traffic logjam
in the area.
