During your time as a Christian, did you know the Lord? If you say that you did know Him, you are admitting that God is real. If you say that you thought you did, then you didn’t, and you were never a Christian. You faked it all that time. But you are not alone. Many, if not most atheists have had false conversions and that's why they are so adamantly anti-Christian. They heard a false gospel that said that Jesus gives joy and peace and fixes problems, and when what they think is Christianity didn’t deliver the promised goods, they became disillusioned and often bitter.

Ray Answers: Your statement shows that you neither know what Christianity delivers or what "religion" offers.

Religion says that if you are good enough and do enough, you may bribe God enough to give you everlasting life. It is hopeless because it can’t deliver its hope. God will not pervert justice by allowing Himself to be bribed. In fact His Word warns “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to God.” Try and bribe an earthly judge and you will find yourself under the wrath of criminal law. Religious works simply stir more wrath from God for our sin.

Christianity is different. It says that although the Judge is wrath-filled against all wickedness, He is rich in mercy and has provided a Savior. Jesus took the wrath of God’s Justice upon Himself—taking the punishment for our sins. Through His death and resurrection, God can now freely forgive our sins and let us live. He grants us the "gift" of eternal life (see Romans 6:23). We don’t have to strive to earn God’s favor. It’s freely given to us because He is good and kind.

So religion is utterly hopeless, while Christianity delivers eternal salvation from death and Hell to all who repent and trust alone in Jesus.

Ray Answers: Embarrassed? Never. The Bible says, “Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall not be ashamed.” This short life is filled with pain, futility, aging, and then the surety of death—and with this life there is a little joy here and there. In reality, each of us isn’t searching for happiness; rather, we are fighting off unhappiness. We are constantly barraged with problems, sickness and pain. Dentists, doctors, lawyers, and undertaker’s have secure jobs in this life.

But as Christians, we have been given everlasting life, and we are eagerly waiting for God's Kingdom to come to this earth and for His will to be done on this earth as it is in Heaven. That means new bodies with no more futility, aging, tears, pain, suffering or death. God seals those that love Him with the Holy Spirit as a token of good faith. In other words, how can we know for sure when lying is morally wrong? The way to know that it's serious when you've violated some civil law is to listen as the judge passes sentence.

So there is your answer as to when something is morally wrong. You will find out on Judgment Day when you face the Judge of the Universe.

In the meanwhile, He forewarns you that “all liars will have their part in the lake of fire,” so it would be wise to forget these worn out scenarios (that attempt to to justify sin) and repent and trust the Saviour.

Ray Answers: There's enough food to spread around. Human selfishness (sin) is the problem, not God. Think of our priorities--of how much we spend on armaments, and searching space for intelligent life…hundreds of billions of dollars. That could feed a lot of hungry kids.

If you believe evolution, just deal with kids starving to death. Your worldview is “survival of the fittest.” Starvation is no big deal. It's cold, it’s hard, and it’s a nasty belief. The Christian worldview, however, clothes the naked, feeds the hungry, takes care of the poor, and heals the sick.

Ray Answers: It is scientifically ludicrous to say that Nature made itself. For Nature to make itself, it had to be pre-existent, before it made itself. Whatever created us had to be eternal and non-material. Nature is none of these things. God is both. He is outside of the dimension of time (eternal) and He is Spirit.

He will also get the last laugh: “Because you disdained all my counsel, and would have none of my rebuke, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, when your terror comes like a storm, and your destruction comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you…” (Proverbs 1:25-27). So forget your image of God like some sort of passive celestial Santa Claus. He is nothing like what you conceive Him to be. The “god” you don’t believe in doesn’t exist. He is a figment of you fertile imagination (the place of imagery). The God who is revealed in Scripture is the one you have to face, whether you believe in Him or not.

Ray Answers: It's condescending to look down on people who don't believe as atheists do--the scientific impossibility that nothing created everything (or the silliness that nothing is actually something), that there's no ultimate right or wrong, and that death is the end (when they don't have any idea what happens after death).

Creation/Nature makes the existence of God axiomatic. It's an intellectual embarrassment to have to point out His existence. That's why the Bible calls the atheist a "fool" (see Psalm 14:1).

I often have proud people burst into a crowd (when I'm open air preaching) and act as though they are the intellectual saviour of these poor peasants that haven't the brains to judge what I'm saying. People aren't as dumb as you make out. They have thought out the issues of life and death, and when they understand that God has deliberately chosen foolish-sounding stories to trap the proud in their arrogance, the entire Bible makes sense. They soften their heart, do what it says (repent and trust alone in Jesus) and they come to know God personally. Argument over.

Ray Answers: For the same reason church buildings have a roof. It rains. Contrary to popular opinion, being struck by lightning isn't a sign of divine displeasure. Christians get wet when it rains, bruise when they fall, and sometimes die when they are shot. If a Christian is hit by lightning it would be because he is standing in a vulnerable place. Still, if he is a Christian, he has everlasting life so his death is nothing serious.

Ray answers: God kills billions not millions. The Scriptures reveal that He is the ultimate Judge. Every human being will die because He proclaimed the death sentence on the entire race. Someone Said: "Why does Jesus want you to eat his flesh and drink his blood?"

Ray Answers: His statements were obviously symbolic. This is how you can know that. When He passed the cup of wine to His disciples and said "This is my blood," His physical blood was still in His veins. It wasn't in the cup. When He passed the bread to them and said that it was His flesh, He flesh stayed on His body. They didn't eat Him. They instead ate the bread He passed them. When He told them that He was the "door," it was symbolic of the fact that He is the only way to eternal life, and that He wasn't a physical door with hinges.
