Human rights activist, Mary Helen Bernstein is a citizen of the United States of America, who has shown deep interest in the inhuman treatments being metted out on Biafrans in Nigeria. She has a huge fan base among Biafrans in various social media platforms, mostly on her Facebook page where she recently adopted Biafran names-(Mary Ada Biafra Obiageli) as her account name, in solidarity with Biafrans.

In a recent development, Mrs. Bernstein has written an emotional letter to world leaders and notable International Organisations, such as US President-elect, United Nations World Food Programme(WFP), and its Executive Director, Ertharin Cousin, over the heart-rending predicament of Biafrans in Nigeria.

The letter highlighted that just like during the 1960s genocide perpetrated against Biafrans in which about 6million Biafrans were either massacred or starved to death, history is repeating itself, as Biafrans have incessantly been subjected to extrajudicial killings, economic blockade and continuous marginalisation by the Nigerian government, with little or no attention being paid by world media outlets and aid agencies unlike what is obtainable in the Northern part of the country where Boko Haram insurgents are on rampage.
