COMPROLLER DIMKA SOLICITS CO-PERATION FROM IMPORTERS AND CLEARING AGENTS.
The job of Nigeria customs service are beyond what most Nigerian citizens thinks and know. The customs officials are not just there for collection of duties from imports, export and excise tariff from local manufacturers and combat smuggling activities.
A Nigerian customs official is trained to know those things that affect the micro and macro economy of the nation and candidly advice the government on some issues relating to the fiscal development of the economy after extensive analysis of such issues. This is the reason why the customs high command takes much pains to carefully scrutinize its officials before entrusting then with some sensitive commands as comptrollers. One of such reputable customs comptrollers of repute is Comptroller Dimka v d[fsi] an alumnus of University of Lagos, who was detailed to take over the mantle of leadership of Seme command of the Nigeria customs service .Comptroller Dimka an experienced officer on enforcement duties had commanded the federal operations units A and C that is ikeja and owerri respectively and he was a colossus of sort.
In a recent chart with some journalists, Comptroller Dimka appealed for maximum cooperation from importers and freight- forwarding agents with emphasis that; We are here to balance the enforcement and trade facilitation and combat the influx of prohibited goods. He pledged to render his best to ensure that importation of unwanted goods into the country through the command under his control is jeopardized, which is the primary assignment of his command to save the customs job from being relinquished to the back burner. The former comptroller of customs in charge of zones A and C of the federal operations unit of the Nigeria customs service who oversees the activities of the service at Seme presently said that; We are ready to learn from people, that is the reason why we have channels for suggestions on how to improve in our service delivery……..
