Dear Nairalanders, my brother who just came back from the U.K with his friend for the friend's marriage introduction has been appointed to be a spokesman (talking on behalf of the friend) for the ceremony. All his efforts to decline the offer has been rebuffed as he has been convinced that it is to be done in English language and that there is really nothing to it; he is just to stand and declare the intent of the visitation (how a flower was found in the compound of prospective
inlaws, etc) and that everything
else would flow from there; but he is still scared and afraid of failure, since he has not done such before and moreover, the girl in question is of a diffrent tribe. Can anyone versed in these things help please?

well seeing he has no choice but to do it, I will give him a few tips,

first he must be very confident while talking, he should remember he is a spokes man kind of, that means decisions don't rest on him.

on that day first thing is usually for the girls family to greet the man's family in form of welcoming the visitors, from there he will pick it up by praising the girls family on how nice they are and occasionally chipping in that his friend made a nice choice, the he will probably move on to introduce themselves as regards to where they are from who is who.

After that the girls family will probably ask them the purpose of there visit that's probably when he would present I wine and say something like that his friend has seen a precious jewel in there house and has come with his family to indicate interest and probably know how he can get this precious jewel, from there the family will want to know who exactly then................
