If you decide to run for office and you have gazillion followers, that's free MARKETING for you right there.
If you own a business and you have gazillion followers, EASY MARKETING to promote your products.
Do not underestimate the power of social media nowadays.
As a matter of fact, do you know people actually use their profiles to make money? For example, say you have 1 million nigerian followers on twitter. You can approach a new start up or a company and say "i will give you a shoutout on my profile so you can get several retweets and create awareness. Just pay me so so and so...............
