Very reckless diplomatic decision. You recognize them as only trade partners because the Chinese have no problem with that right? Oh my God these people are making Nigeria look too too weak in the international community. 5 Likes |

The Federal Government on Wednesday says she will no longer recognise Taiwan as a country but rather pledged support for One China. So we were recognising Taiwan as a country. And China told us to stop that but allowed us to only trade with them. Are we this desperate for China money? It's like you tell a woman you are done with her but goes on to still eat her meals. You want Taiwan to export their best products to you after taking sides with their 'oppressor' ? Expect the worst "made in Taiwan" products from now on. Who knows what else China will order us (a sovereign country) to do or not to do. 1 Like |

Sounds great. Taiwan has no business being a country. America is trying her best to use Taiwan as a military outpost, a threat to the Chinese. The timing of this press release is handsome. Obama is busy packing load, and Trump is busy finding new suit and tie for the braggadocios Washington of the next 8 yrs. By the way, these few days, our international affairs ministry has been doing great, and Buhari's tenure has surprised me with electricity. If he sorts out electricity to the point that we dont need generators, then I will personally campaign for his re-election, otherwise, I will need him to go back and tend his statistically everlasting 150 cows. 6 Likes 3 Shares |

This is a smart divine move by Buhari's government. No wonder China is quick to conclude plans in bringing $40billion investments into the country. 1 Like |

This a welcome development from where I am standing.......If a country like China is conditioning the pumping of $40 billion into the economy on that.....am all for it. The question is.....What is Taiwan offering us? If Beinjing is offering 40 billion dollar, Taiwan should offer us 50 billion dollar or more, if they cant, let them pack their loads and use d next available flight out of Nigeria.... |

Gten: I find myself in agreement with you. In an earlier time, there was an idea of the non-aligned movement. It would behove the Nigerian government to reapply that concept. De-recognizing Taiwan implicitly sets us on a collision course with the incoming and very hawkish Trump administration on this issue at a time when China and the United States are primed for a confrontation. The art of diplomacy involves deflection, Nigeria should be cautious and not needlessly get involved in international power struggles.... but hey, this is the government of Bubu the dullard right? 6 Likes |
